I'll be honest. I record all my TOSRM shows and fast forward to the new shots.

It's a shame how they are butcherd down by 9 minutes each episode. I record all the G4 TOS shows - UNCUT they run 1 hour and 9 minutes - yeah the same amount of commercials, but at least we are getting all the show.

I look at the TOSRM shows as really an advertisement for the eventual release of the HD and SD versions on DVD - hopefully uncut. I figure CBS will time the release for sometime in late 2007 or 2008 to coincide with the ST XI.

And stop pre empting the show making it on a floating schedule.. If its supposed to stgart at a stated time then start it. .NOT 2 Hours later. dvdr is set for a 3 hour time slot to make sure I can see it.

Has anyone noticed any audio sync problems on their local stations? Our local station in Phoenix seems about every other episode to have the audio not very well synced up. I thought it might be an issue with the uplink to Dish Network (which i how I get it) but friends who have seen them watching over broadcast or cable report the same thing. It's really a shame the audio isn't always synced since our local station shows them without any logos or squishing of the credits.

My Trek creds...

Too young for the original letterwriting campaigns, but I did write to Paramount asking for a renewal ca 1974

Also, part of the article about Star Trek states this:
"In its first week of actually appearing in the national ratings—the week ended Oct. 1—Trek posted a 1.3 rating for its weekend runs (3 a.m. in New York). That’s not far behind the 1.5 rating for WB holdover Smallville. Never understimate the power of Shatner."

How's that for some perspective?

I'm certaintly no Saint, but I'm starting to think personal attacks are sign of weakness... I know some may find them somehow satisfying, but for the life of me, I can't see how they add much to life. We all have different opinions... and that's far more interesting than indifference.
I've had my doubts about ST:Remastered... but I think it's been fun; in many ways I wish they would push further. You're not going to get "astounding" ratings for this unless it's some great hijinks are pulled... and I don't think we want that, any of us.
For what it is, I think it's likely doing okay.
Now that I've found the channel here in the Dallas area; I can catch it at a decent time 9pm on Sunday... They even re-run last weeks episode behind the new one! :-) Channel 52 for y'all down here.

Just to keep a 1.3 rating in perspective, the season 3 premiere of Battlestar Galactica, a show in no danger of cancellation, got a 1.0. For CBS's money, given that the re-mastering is a long-term investment in future cable deals and DVD sales, I don't see how CBS can lose. A 1.3 is excellent considering the crappy time slots and the niche appeal of the new effects.
