Number 55 Star Trek TAS is noncanon for now which means that Captain Robert April is part of the star trek canon.

No other Star Trek TV Series and Star Trek Movies even mention that Captain Robert April is the first Captain of The USS NCC 1701 Enterprise.

They could of at least had a plaque on the Enteprise D in Star Trek TNG that says, USS NCC 1701 Enterprise Captain Robert April first Captain.

It is true that Star Trek TOS does not establish Pike as the first Captain of The Enterprise.

Captain April WAS the first Captain of the Enterprise. No where in the series does it establish that Pike was the first Captaion of the Enterprise, only that he proceeded Kirk. Now can someone tell me what is?

This series was great. You did a nice write-up here. As far as animated programs go, this was one of the better one…. although I’ve wondered if this program ever fit into Trek canon.

I love your animated series. Its everything that the first Enterprise didn’t have and did. Its really loveable and cool. My whole family loved it.

In the DVD release of the animated series, the episode “The Time Trap” deals with the Enterprise getting lost in the Delta Triangle “Sargasso Sea” region of space. In the DVD release, this region of space is black. I remember this episode as a kid, and this region of space was red, not black, in the original network airings.

Years after I wrote “The Counter-Clock Incident,” Gene made a decision that Robert April was canon.

He read every TAS script, by the way, and scribbled notes in the margins. When Spock tells Kirk that their brains are operating in reverse in the anti-matter universe, Gene wrote in the margin, “Really? How do they pee?”

Anybody else have problems getting a copy of the animated DVD set without the inner DVD holder(s) being damaged? My copy was cracked and one of the trays had been broken right off where it is held together with tape. I went back to the store and had them open two other copies which also had damage to the inner DVD “taped” trays.

This set is great viewing but I am not sure how I am going to get an undamaged set.

Those series exist for me in some alternate illusory reality in which Kirk had a bad dream that Star Trek sucks in the future. “
