Its a tough casting in any case. Nimoy has such a unique face that it would be difficult to find a ringer, plus he was so very tall & skinny, an actor would have to slim down to get the sunken cheeks and frame necessary to pull it off convincingly.

I wouldnt cast him in a soap opera. Im amazed he made the cut on Heros, I hope and pray that he doesnt get the role of spock. May be he could be spocks stunt man or his shoe shiner

[...] Wie wir bereits im Mai und Dezember berichteten, hat uns Zachary Quinto (IMDB), Star aus der Serie Heroes, in der Vergangenheit durchaus wissen lassen, dass er Interesse daran hat, die neue Version des Charakters Spock darzustellen. Wie auch immer, es scheint so, als wäre da mehr an der Story dran. Der Trek Movie Report hatte bereits ein paar mal davon Wind bekommen, dass es Gespräche zwischen Quinto und den Filmproduzenten gegeben habe, aber auch, dass noch kein Vertrag geschlossen wurde. Es ist natürlich fast unmöglich, alles Gesagte mit Verweisen zum Casting festzunageln, so dass dies hier zu diesem Zeitpunkt nur ein Gerücht darstellt, wie auch immer, es scheint so, dass CHUD auf dieselbe Spur gekommen ist. Sie berichten darüber, dass Quinto “in Verhandlungen” stecke hinsichtlich Star Trek’s neuen vulkanischen Wissenschaftsoffizier. Falls wir mehr erfahren sollten, werden wir’s natürlich weitergeben. Quinto’s Darstellung des Bösewichts Sylar in Heroes (wo er an der Seite von J.J. Abrams’ bestem Freund Greg Grunberg spielt) war ziemlich beeindruckend und hat um den 30jährigen Schauspieler geradezu einen Wirbel verursacht. Der Trek Movie Report hat erfahren, dass Paramount sich von dem Gedanken entfernt hat, “große Stars” für die Hauptrollen Kirk und Spock zu engagieren, und falls dem so sei, dann wäre Quinto eine ausgezeichnete Wahl. Hoffentlich werden wir mit der Comic Con mehr wissen. [...]

Tobias Menzies should be Spock. He’s a wonderful actor (Brutus in HBO’s Rome), looks the part and also importantly is great at comedy and drama. Check out You tube for some clips of him.

I caught Heros Monday night. I didn’t think Quinto was bad. But obviously the Sylar charactor is nothing close to Spock. I’m not an expert by any means…..I’d have to see him do other things to judge better.

Bringing big name actors into this is a BIG mistake. Fresh faces are needed.
Please? And most of the actors I’ve seen listed here are TOO DAMN OLD for a young Kirk and Spock anyway.
