Shatner’s ‘Show Me The Money’ Shown The Door December 16, 2006

by Anthony Pascale , Filed under: Shatner , trackback

ABC’s latest experiment in  cheesertainment is coming to an end. The network has announced that it is scrapping its order for more episodes of the Shat’s game show Show Me The Money. The network had ordered some additional episodes for the game show to be its sacrificial lamb against Fox’s American Idol, but the latest ratings dip convinced them it wasn’t even worthy of that. ABC will however air the remaining 7 episodes they have already bought. So does losing one of his jobs mean his price for Trek XI just went down or up?

Before it leaves…take one more look at at how Shat-tastic it was

This isn’t the first time the Shat screwed up on a game show, as this clip shows

I guess at the end of the day the reason it never worked was it was just quite simply …Shat!

4. Still Kirok - December 16, 2006

The show wasn’t bad at all. Shatner was the whole thing though. More important–bring back Kirk already!

5. Frank - December 16, 2006

How about Kirk as a game show host? Or better yet, how about Shatner and Nimoy hosting a variety show in the roles of Kirk and Spock. “The Kirk & Spock Variety Hour” has a certain ring to it. Singing, dancing and comedy sketches. Paramount, are you listening?

They should have had Bill yelling ‘Beam on down!’ like the TV guy did on Narendra III in STV:TFF

7. Adam Cohen - December 16, 2006

Oh that Pyramid clip is classic. Matt Damon couldn’t pull that off!

8. Admiral Deem - December 16, 2006

What I saw of the game show it just took too long to play. If you can’t get to the bonus round twice in a half hour, who cares?

Just like in so many other forms of performance–even the best talent can’t save a show that is poorly written.

I thought it could use some retooling but I guess they don’t give these things much time to work out bugs. I still think Shatner could be an entertaining game show host. Give him The Price Is Right when Bob Barker leaves!

I love the Shatman. He’s the best, but that show was terrible. Glad it’s gone. Ugh!

Re:#5: Frank, they did that on Mad TV ages ago, pretty damn funny, laugh-in type spoofery, one of the better Mad TV efforts, among such tripe. I had it on tape, but alas, i think it’s gone… maybe it’s on the net somewhere.
RIP

I really disliked it. One viewing and I was gone.

14. Litenbug - December 17, 2006

Thank God that was over. The girls…yummy….but that was all the show had going for it.

Inspiration…!

Perhaps Howie Mandel should audition for the captain’s chair? The #13 girl Layla can play Chapel…. yeeeooowl….!

“Spock… Phasers….or no phasers?”
