Spocky, You read more of what you think is between the lines and less of what’s put on the line.
This particular thread isn’t discourse. This became name calling and insult. She is not above you, me or anyone else… and I never said she was and if you thought that is what I said, maybe do us both the courtesy of asking me to clarify before you attempt to put words in my mouth.

Obviously we ALL love this website and we comment on whatever the hell they see fit to put in front of us. If they were discussing the color of shit and it had the word Star Trek written on it, EVERYBODY would chime in.

People who frequent these forums DO so with the fleeting hope of simply having some intellectual discourse while voicing their opinions.
Being that alot of TREK and SCI-FI fans GENERALLY have a little more grey matter than the average bear, this discourse becomes a necessity.

The truth is, that most of us dont give a rat’s ass about Ms. Sirtis and will forget all about her as soon as the next interesting article pops up. Which should be quite soon, given this websites EXCELLENT track record.

It kills me when sycophants like yourself go on about how “movie stars” (which is quite a stretch in this case)are FAR TOO IMPORTANT or FAR TOO BUSY to be seen frequenting shoddy places like THIS.
As if to do so would be BENEATH her or something.

She would do WELL to come here and see what’s REALLY going on in the Star Trek world.

She’s a middle-aged English woman who got lucky and ended up working on a TV show in the 80’s.

I assure you she doesn’t float through the air, or fart perfume.

I am well aware why the comment section is here. And I can see who you are and aren’t a fan of.
My point is…. if she matters so little… why all of this? You think she’ll wander over and read all this? Doubtful.
There is a difference between commenting and what this thread has become. And if she is hurting her fans, perhaps it’s they who should be concerned.
True?..or is this another excuse for the non-TOS haters to spew?

I always found Marina Sirtis very likeable in her role, even though I wasn’t a particularly big fan of Troi herself (what could be more 1980s than having a therapist on the bridge!) and I was glad when she finally started wearing a standard uniform, no matter how damn sexy she was in that low-cut long blue dress!!! And to be honest, if I had a problem, I’d have run to Guinan in preference to Deanna!

Sirtis is a pretty solid actress, albeit now in that period of her life where she needs to start looking for more matriarchal roles. My personal opinion is that she should think about coming back to the UK and doing a BBC classic novel adaptation or some such.

Her Troi character has had a better afterlife than many of the TNG actors: I mean, she’s even appeared in Voyager and Enterprise. I wish her well, but she really needs to move beyond playing Deanna Troi.

Basically I think she, along with some other TNG cast members, simply resent that their time has come to an end far sooner than they thought it would. The jabs at Shatner are a bit juvenile though. Ol’ Bill may not be a prince, but the bashing of him by others has gotten VERY old. He’s a cultural icon, along with Leonard Nimoy. Marina probably wouldn’t merit a Trivial Pursuit question.

BTW….adjusted for inflation, the first four TOS films outgrossed First Contact.

I enjoyed TNG alot….they did a wonderful job….but due to questionable story ideas in their last two films, their time has unfortunately passed. The direct-to-DVD idea has merit, but there’s virtually no chance of seeing Stewart or Spiner in any kind of project like that simply for budgetary reasons.
