Hey, it worked for Samuel Jackson when he happened to bring up his love for the Star Wars films on some show...next thing, he's waving a lightsabre...

it would be awesome if Rosario Dawson was in Star Trek....but I dont really think she looks like Uhura. Uhura's face was heart shaped but Rosario has an angular face which is also longer. Personally, I think Rosario is too good looking to be Uhura.

Furthermore, to the people who say that BSG will be a distant memory in a few years - i say you're exactly right. Look at Buffy, has quite faded out of most people's conversations. Star Trek endures, but BSG is the better series for right now - it lives, and it gets ratings that have been comparable to the death throes of Enterprise, despite being on cable, and equal to or better than Enterprise in syndication. What is undeniable is that Star Trek endures, but you can only dispute the fact that it is fandom, and nostalgia, as much as quality that keeps it viable. In its recent incarnations - Voyager, Enterprise it was out of touch with the times, and the general public and i gather many of us who come to this site thought it stank. Kirk and company live forever, but BSG lives right now, and it shines very brightly.

Excuse me for the lateness of this one. Whilst there is nothing wrong with having virtuous heroes to aspire to it can make for quite facile characterisation, and a much weaker hero. Consider the bucket of awesome that is Wrath of Khan, and its portrayal of Kirk versus Khan. Particularly how Nicholas Meyer wrote Kirk, (cited in Memory-Alpha's article on STII).

"Initially, producer Harve Bennett was resistant to the idea that Kirk could do anything 'bad', yet Meyer won him over; in fact, he believed the story needed Kirk to have flaws. "There's a distinction to be made between heroes and gods," he explained, "which I think we sometimes get confused about. [...] let me explain my theory of heroism. If a man jumps into a raging torrent to save a drowning child, he performs an heroic act. If the same man jumps into the same torrent to save the same child, but does so with a ball and chain attached to his leg, he's not less heroic; he's more heroic. "If you look at the heroes of antiquity and myth, they all have flaws. It's something that they have to overcome; their flaws are something that they have to act in spite of. The challenge is not to defy your fate, but to endure it. That is heroic."

She would make an awesome Uhura. Of course, Uhura will just have to have more to do if they were to cast Rosario..but damn...she'd be good in that role!
