It's time for us to realize that the nature and direction of Trek XI is pretty much out of our hands. Nothing to do but wait for Christmas 2008. I for one will be looking forward to the event... I am not in marketing, but I do know that if there is a product I like, and significant changes are made to that product, then it is basically no longer the same product…and I don’t want it. Abrams brought Trek back from the death, to claim he is 'raping' it is rude and uncalled for. To suggest your have 'demands' that should be issued to him is absurd and smacks of the whole 'entitlement' notion many fans seem to have that drives me mad. Star Trek is not a charity, it does not 'owe you' anything. It is a brand and a product. They are currently trying to expand that brand into new markets while maintaining the legacy market. The legacy market cannot dictate the design of the new product. They will like it or not, but one thing is for sure....if the new Trek is exactly like the old they will fail. I hope that we can be surprised. I hope for something we cannot imagine. That is how your grow markets, not by just giving people what they expect, but by exceeding expectations and creating demand.
