The comments we get constantly are :
'I don't bother with the novels anymore' the reasons given are-
Fans are fed up having novels disquised as TOS with just fleeting reference to the characters we know and love, while authors pass off their sci fi novels as Trek to get the sales.
Another gripe is the re-hashing of old novels under new names or /and covers to trick fans into parting with their money
Just give us a new novel which features our series characters, by a author who actually liked and knew the tv series...and gets the charactization right for once...and a decent plot...

Agreed on the multi-book comments. I used to pick up a few new TREK novels every month or so; I don't even bother anymore. I still find a really good one-book TREK book time-to-time, but it's rare.

This was not really a bad series but I do agree my interest in the books have wained since the multiple book series. I would be more interested in anthology Trek books that have something for everybody. Problem with the series it takes forever for the conclusion.

The lower deck books make the Trek universe more real. Redshirts are people (and easily disposable) too lol

I wonder why more of the books aren't adapted to comics. Dark Horse was a mixed bag with comic adaptations, doing some very well, and others not so well, but I do feel there is a wealth of material that could be mined.

Nice review. I've been hesitant about picking up this series; now I think I'll try them out.

I do wish Pocket would at least publish a done-in-one Trek novel once in a while instead of all these multi-book miniseries events, but those days seem to be over and done with.
