Thanks for keeping this one "Sin Trek" online. I haven't seen it in 3 years but wanted to see it again tonight and went looking for it online.
It's still funny stuff...it was my favorite episode from the series.

69. FredCFO:
Respectfully disagree. Star Trek The Motion Picture was not The God Thing....a link posted elsewhere on this site explores the differences. Unfortunately the film will probably never be made, at least with the original TOS cast.

Who is this supernatural entity that determines what is acceptable tv? The presumptuous proximity of the words "acceptable" and "tv" (in its current state) is what offends me.

#62:
If the movie was made according to the script I daresay it would have been more coherent than Star Trek V...which does has its inspirational Godward moments. I just think The God Thing could have been a more successful film.

Amateurish and lame by people that don't understand.

Yet another sign that VH1 is quickly slipping into obscurity. Does anybody watch this MTV-lite any more? I hope the ten people that originally watched this on VH1 liked it.

#44 - You probably never saw the Star Trek parody from 'In Living Color' called 'The Wrath of Farrakhan' which parodied the Nation of Islam leader Louis Farakhan (with Jim Carrey as Captain Kirk).

Actually, over the years, Star Trek has been used as a vehicle to parody just about everything and anything. So a lighthearted jab at Christianity become just one more of many.

Most amazing how people find stuff funny until the "business end" of the humor is pointed at them (or their group). All of a sudden, it's now in poor taste.
