Well, they have already ststed who’s the new Spock AND have Nimoy in it as well – from what I understand, they’re waiting on finding the actor to play the young Kirk. I’m sure he’ll be in it – especially if Spock is in it.

I am an ‘old’ Trek fan (watched TOS first run every week). If they’re recasting TOS, they need to have both Nimoy and Shatner in the film to pass the baton. If they disrespect Shatner, I’ll be furious. Besides, Shatner is more popular than ever…

Shatner must return in this new film to help get back the old Star Trek fans.
You know the ones who left after Kirk was killed in Generations.
The ones who Rick Berman claimed did not exist. Looks like Paramount stopped seeing it that way. If Shatner & Nimoy are not in the new film it will keep old fans at home, while keeping away new people who are just Shatner fans.
As a Star Trek fan I wiil go see the movie no matter who is in it & I hate the multi-plex. However if Shatner & Nimoy are in the new film I may go a second & third time. I will even drag other people to go see the new film as well. JJ needs to undo the sins of Bad Rick & bring Kirk back to life.
Sounds like the new crew will be walking the line between fan service & making a movie that the average Hollywood comsumer can eat popcorn in front of. Good Luck to all that are involved. Be smart, Get Shat!

ok listen up

maybe…just maybe… it’ll be sort of a sequel to Star Trek VI…with an X3 style opening where we see CGI de-aged Shats and Nimoy as K and S chatting about their early years…cue flashback to their early years..

yeah just like Harve Bennet was gonna do.

or maybe…just maybe itll involve old Kirk travelling back to meet his younger self??

What I feel should happen is that Shatner and Nimoy have major roles in the movie along with the other surviving members. The actors playing the young Kick, Spock roles etc should be only minor roles that could be developed in a future movie.
