You know that begining sounds like one of the superman trailers , when Jurel anounces him giving his son to the people of earth.

Also , where the hell did “THE” quote come from ?

“All I ask is a tall ship and a star to sail by” , i think this was also quoted in STE.

This was however the most enjoyable Trailer I can remember.

Why does everyone take the pretentious route on these trailers? I don’t care about the legacy, I want to see that the movie’s going to be fun.

John Masefield 1 June 1878 – 12 May 1967

“…And all I ask is a tall ship, and a star to steer her by.”

Besides being used in many other written works, this quotation was also referenced in the film, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. Though not directly stated to be so, it hearkens back to a conversation between Kirk and Dr. McCoy in the original 1960’s Star Trek series episode “The Ultimate Computer”.

Went back and watched it again. Same effect on me as the first time. Great!

I loved the over the shoulder shot as Kirk steps onto the bridge and the E coming out of the glare of the sun.

That was great, Anthony. It really did bring a tear to my eye.
But then, I am a weepy fool when it comes to Star Trek and the memories that can be evoked. I hope that Abrams and company can show as much love for it as you have here. THEN we know that Star Trek will be well served.

And the Generations music was a good choice.
