Whoever JJ choses whether it be Robbie williams or not, he himself said the choice was extremely difficult. So when the announcement is finally made we can be sure the best man won. It’s not as if its an auction and the highest bidder wins. There is some serious money in the pot for this film and careers on the line. I think we can relax though as I wouldn’t believe the date in the Star. I think everyone is being a little harsh on poor Robbie though, whatever anyone thinks of him he is the one with the millions in the bank and living the dream while we sit here and worry about a film thats over a year away from completion.

This may sound odd but I heard a guy in a restaurant saying “I still think we should see James Roday”. At first I thought that might be odd since James Roday is a comic but then I started to wonder if he might be able to pull Kirk off. If they were auditioning James Roday, the guy from Psych for anyone who doesn’t know, and he could pull of the more serious aspects of the performance, I think it might work. Then again, this was just a random guy talking to another random guy about who to “see” for Star Trek. It’s not like the random people have that much control. I suppose we’ll see… just who they decide to “see”.

I don’t even like the thought of Robbie Winter’s name being mentioned for star trek,thats just fecked up, an what was the proposal for Rand by some of you’s and whatwas the comment by Snake Jessica simpson for Rand,
why?, she’s fecking shit mate, she can’t bloody act, and as for paris hilton

ZtoA@114: Reynolds, Grace and Franco are too well-known, and Piven is far too old. Remember that Abrams is specifically looking for someone young (younger than Matt Damon, who is 37; Piven just turned 42). Abrams will likely be looking for someone a bit younger that Quinto (30); the likes Topher Grace and James Franco (both 29) certainly fit that bill, but I think they’re a bit too well known. Not that that should prevent them from getting the role if they’re right for it, of course.

As for Masterson (31)… maybe. I don’t really see him in the role, though.

Smike van Dyke@115: I’m not sure I’d call him a Shatner clone, but I think Bailey would be good in the role. He might be a bit older than what Abrams is looking for, though (31), but that’s still a young enough age to pass off as late 20-something. Abrams might not see it that way, though.

Thorny@118: Shane West might be a good pick. He did ok in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, although I resented his character being in the film. Ian Somerhalder, however, would be a poor choice, IMO. He can act, yes, but he looks nothing like Kirk and I just don’t think he can pull off the role. As for Dave Annable, I have never seen him act, so I can’t really say for sure. He kinda looks like he could play Kirk, though.

Or just get Richard Dawson. He’s already played a New Kirk once… :-)
