#69 I'm not so sure about the connection with the poster. It wouldn't be the first time that an early teaser poster didn't litterally reflect what's in the movie.

I think the poster is meant to connect to that era, but doesn't necessarily mean that the cosumes and colors will be like the 60's show.

I sure hope not anyway. If they keep that color scheme, only die-hard Trekkies will like it, and I'm afraid that general audiences - especially the huge teen movie going audiences (the ones that go to sci fi movies the most, and that are so tech savy) will laugh at the cheesy look of it.

42. DavidJ ... "I hope they at least keep the red/blue/gold color scheme intact, and don’t go for a monotone look like in TMP. It just wouldn’t be classic Trek without the colorful uniforms."

David, I think the teaser poster released last year - which I loved! - makes it clear that the familiar color scheme will be maintained.

TB, Batman is a good example. In Batman Returns, no one that grew up watching the original Batman tv show has any problem with the new costumes or vehicles. No one says, "That wasn't in the tv show." No one has a problem seeing the tank-like vehicle as "the bat-mobile" eventhough it looks nothing like the Bat-mobile from the original series.

I think in the same way, no one will care that the uniforms are different from the 60's show, or that the sets are different.

Like you say, the Enterprise tv show looked way more advanced in technology than the 60's show, eventhough it was set 100 years prior.

People understand TOS was made in the 60's and technology has changed in ways never imagined back then, even for the 23rd century. So, I expect the Enterprise ship to look somewhat similar, but with distinct differences on the outside. I expect the bridge and interiors to be quite a bit different, with some design queue's from TOS, but just to connect your mind, not to look like TOS.

We'll see I guess. But I can't imagine it would work if it looks like the 60's.

I agree with you, Jay. The color palet of TV shows in the 60s is solely responsible for the bright red, blue & gold shirts on Trek just as it was on Batman. If it was going to be in "color" then they wanted it to stand out. I foresee a totally new look while the basics--the characters & the Enterprise--will stay the same. Generally speaking, "Enterprise" looked way better than TOS because of budget, effects & overall production values just as the latest episodes of Star Wars looked better than the originals. If they shot it like the TOS, it would be reduced to camp & no one out there would like that.

If you expect this movie to look anything like the 60's tv show, I think you are going to be sorely mistaken. Abrams is trying to make this movie appeal to a larger audience. His mission is to revive not only the franchise, but Paramount as well. He needs a blockbuster, not a remake of the 60's show.

There is no way he can use sets or costumes that look anything like the 60's show. Those, from today's perspective, are way too cheasy and cheap looking and don't mesh with anyone's view today of what the 23rd century will look like. Wood props? Buttons? Toggle switches? Bulky hand held devices? Does anyone think things like that will exist 200 years from now? If he tries to make a believable sci-fi film and uses those things from TOS, it will be a disaster.

Expect Abrams to create a good sci-fi movie that is set in the Trek universe using the original characters, but in a completely reimagined future. He will stick to the Star Trek canon, but there is no reason he needs to make it look and feel like TOS. I expect it to be a darker, more action packed Star Trek (similar to Khan), that appeals to a wider audience.

That is great image off Quntio but i would have darker blue color. Regarding ridiculous Heroes commits from Scott, come on you need to watch the show before you labeled it ,,it sucks´´.
I would recommend you watch it from the start and judged it for yourself and i think you would see that Heroes aren't made for teens or dumb people rather the opposite.
I think Heroes is great.

Hah hah I can't believe I read that!

Introducing the new dead horse! Quintos incorrect spinning LOBE caps!

The mans lobes just aren't quite right. Something is off about them, they should keep the third season look for the lobes. George Lucas raped my lobes. Quintos lobes look too cartoonish and animated, it's like TAS series lobes. CBS Digital needs to improve Quintos lobes.

Ahem, point made I'd say
