I will look forward to it...and in the meantime I remain hopeful for a spot for an 'older' Kirk in your Star Trek storyline, and a warm line or two for the younger 'Scotty' too... ;)

Actually, we're producing it, and we've hired an excellent writer to write it. And the summary on IMDB may not be entirely accurate.

To clarify my #36 post:

Roberto Orci is adapting Whitley Strieber's '2012:The War Of The Souls' regarding that 'parallel universe/guy meeting his double' storyline I mentioned...

#11: So, Orci, was I correct when I observed that the plot of Star Trek XI is being modeled on City on the Edge of Forever? I bet I'm right.

A friend of mine recently told me that he believes casting McCoy is going to be even tougher than casting Kirk. And you know, I think I might agree. As long as the Kirk actor is leading man-handsome, has charm and some kinda acting chops, he can probably pull it off. But my friend was observing that what De Kelley brought to TOS as a character actor was very unique. It ain't gonna be easy to find someone who can provide the complex mix of gruffness, humor, gentle caring, etc. that Bones displayed. I don't envy the casting dept!

And yes, Orci, like Iowagirl said, please bring back Shatner as Kirk. This is likely the last opportunity anyone will ever have. Please don't waste it.

I have no problem with you being in "total agreement with me on this."

I like the originality in it. Everyone else just says, "You're always wrong." And by "everyone" I mean my girlfriend. And she's always right. But if I am always wrong............

I should say that I don't necessarily think that this is the "end of the era of Star Trek." I mean, it's been around for 40 plus years and that is way too long for it to be written off. I--and I know that I'll get crap about this one--did not care for The Next Generation. I watch them every now and then to see what it was I missed and I end up thinking "no, they lost something the original had." And then there were the other spin offs, Deep Space 9, Voyager, Enterprise. I liked some-- like Enterprise, sue me--the others I was pretty much apathetic over. There seemed to be too much of a formula used over and over again. For example, there was always a weird little alien character--Quark, that hedgehoglike guy from Voyager-- for humor (that struck me as downright cheese) There was always a logical thinking machine that often strived to be human--Data, that Borg Lady, T'Pol, Odo.

The formulas are fine sometimes; but only to a point. Do them too often and spin them off into a new show and you can easily have overkill. Don't believe me? Check out all those CSIs or Law and Orders. You also kind of shoot yourself in the foot, as a story teller, when you have so many spin offs because you end up having a lot of redundant stories from one show to the other. Add the idea of movies and you have even more trouble.

Now, the folks have decided to go back and redo the original crew, which I honestly think is great. I wish they would have done a second five year voyage in the 1970s instead of The Motion Picture. With the new movie, they kind of have a chance to do something similar. Will they? If they do Trek is not dead. And if they do not....Trek is still not dead either. It lives on as long as we remember it...wait a minut.... this is Star Trek II The Wrath of Kahn!!!!!!!!!!

Never Mind.

When Hitch mentions "that Shatner is hotter than ever" I have to bite my tongue from saying that this a good thing as I like my ham well-cooked.....oops, was that my outside voice?

Harry,
That was not funny & not nice. Mr. Shatner does not walk about like a zombie these days; that's why he was picked to lead Boston Legal - because he exudes energy & vitality. You should take back your comment and make nice.
