The casket works only if sold with a dress uniform you can wear from the Trek era of your preference, so you can be in “full costume” for an open casket service.

Much as I love Star Trek, any references at my memorial will be about its progressive values, otherwise those not in the Trek know would still be at a loss to understand my love for it.

Regarding the Mickey Mouse funeral – I bet when the attendees sang “See you real soon! K-E-Y – Why? Because we like you!” there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Laughing and crying can be so close together.

I am in the UK and have put a request in my will that i be buried in full Star Trek original series uniform …yellow shirt, trousers, zip boots…so would love to get one of those caskets if they come over to the uk!

Thanks for the kind words. It was an amazing experience that bonded family members in a way no one expected, so I can see something similar happening at a Trek-themed funeral. I myself probably wouldn’t take my own final arrangements quite this far, if if someone else wants to, I say Make It So.

Dude this is cool ass shit. I don’t want one, but I’d love to see someone one in one of these boxes. Why not? It’s their money? It’s not like someone is forcing them to sign a line that says put their dead body in a Star Trek box. Do it. It’s rellly cool.

I’ve always half-jokingly told my folks that if anything happened to me, a) I want to be cremated and b) I want my ashes scattered at Cape Canaveral — so they should just sling me under one of the Shuttle’s SRBs… You take care of both the cremation AND the scattering all in one shot!

Now I’m in a quandary: I don’t know if I want an urn or a casket!

But I’d really love to see a future vampire movie or a Laurell K. Hamilton book that features a Trekker vamp nappin’ in one of these!
