These two really feel like family. I grew up reading their books and admire their work a great deal. In interviews, they come off as being very thoughtful, intelligent, insightful and I’m grateful they got to work on ENT’s 4th season. Along with Many Coto, they really brought a certain humanity to ENT’s final season. Thanks guys.

Looking forward to the Mars thing on TV.

Star Trek was in production on its 3rd season and Gene told the fans there that he was in talks with Paramount about making a movie that would show how Kirk, Spock and McCoy all met at the Academy…and apparently he got a huge round of applause”

Right now one of the books I’m reading is Prime Directive. Haven’t read that one in awhile. I read a lot of books in the sci-fi/fantasy realm as well as straight present day fiction and history/non-fiction. For my $.02, I don’t think MOST Trek novels could be regarded as literary milestones, but some are epic and sweeping in view. But really more “pulpish” in nature.

Federation was a great book. There was a wealth of really good, interesting Star Trek novels during the late 80’s and early 90’s. There was only TOS and TNG at the time, and there was much more area to write about. Generations and First Contact kind of put the kabosh on some of that.

Shatner himself pitched the Academy theme to Paramount, although not to Rick Berman. I think he went over Berman’s head to someone else.

As for Enterprise, yes the Reeves-Stevens were a great addition, but the primary work was done by Manny Coto and Mike Sussman. Both had already been on Enterprise, but season 4 was the year that Berman and Bragga finally (although too late) got out of their way.

I love how Anthony is always trying to steer people into saying continuity and canon aren’t very important in the interviews he conducts. “Now a lot of fans really like the canon to be consistent … you don’t really care about that do you?” Its kind of cute :-)

They should have been handed the writing mantle of Star Trek.
Them & the Okuda couple. That would be a great team.
Federation is cool, I love the idea of the last baseball game!
They almost saved Enterprise. Rick should have brought them aboard from the get go! Keep writing cool books! Yes Shatner will Return as Kirk!

These guys really know Star Trek. If they had been working on Enterprise from the beginning, that show would have gone the full 7 years.

12: You mean the Xindi? The Reeves-Stevens weren’t involved with season three, only season four.
I remember hearing that the idea for Shatner appearing on the series that Coto had was that mirror Spock used the Tantalus field on Mirror Kirk. But it doesn’t kill, it sends people back in time to a prison camp that the race that made the Tantalus field in the first place built. The mirror NX discovers it and finds an older Kirk there.
