The thing you have to remember about Walter Koenig is, he’s had “I’m a serious artist” syndrome for years now. He’s a close friend of Harlan Ellison, which doesn’t help. I know Ellison is revered in the sci-fi circles, but anyone with an honest mind has to admit that Ellison’s not only full of himself, he’s over-the-top about it. By all accounts, Koenig is nothing like that himself—but he has a small streak of it in him. So the impression you get from him is, he considers himself to be just a tad above all this fan-generated hoopla. Maybe he’d never come out and admit it, but it shows in him all the same. He carries with him an ever-so-slight (sometimes not so slight) air of annoyance. You might also call it the “George Harrison” syndrome… Harrison being the Beatle who was always most annoyed at having to deal with the whole fan thing, and Beatlemania—because he, George Harrison, was of course, a “serious artist.”

Now no doubt George Harrison was a nice guy in most respects and I’m sure Walter Koenig is too. But for a figure in the public eye, an actor, somebody who owes his livelihood to the idea of schmoozing the public—he comes off sometimes a bit of a grump. Some people are just like that—they think “art” when they should be thinking, “I just have an unusual job.”

Anthony, one final comment then I won’t go near it again………Post #60 by Scott sounds like a real cry for help…….I’m not kidding…..he sounds about two confrontations shy of going “postal” and ending up in a bell tower somewhere, picking victims off with a high-powered rifle as he mutters, “Oswald was a fag!”

Scott, seek help, please!! I am dead serious!

Nice to know you fight battles that don’t involve or concern you.
If you think I was going ballistic fine, it had more to do with the contex of the comment then where you guys think I live.
I’ve been on my own since I was 18 years old & visit my folks every week & respect them. Just like a respect everyones parents.
People who talk about other people’s Mom’s have no class.
Its just a low blow, lower then saying someone has a made up wife.
In my experience most people who are into strippers don’t have wives.
At the least they have bad relationships or think of women poorly.
People who have kids & like strippers, well lets just say thats sad.
When it comes to Star Trek I guess I am a little wound up tight.
It just pains me to understand how many Trek fans are depraved perverts with no class.
And Harry you are one of those people.
Your posts speak for themselves.
Star Trek fandom has way too many of you Howard Stern types IMO.
So in the future before you release the hounds & “take it downtown”
expect a fight or at the least a challenge to your perverted bullshit.

This is going way beyond the “Who gives a rat’s—” point. Everyone is certainly entitled to an opinion. Mine is that in post 18 you went over the top. Nobody here was even commenting on the percieved quality or lack thereof of Spikes programming decisions up til that point. They have promoted themselves in a certain way, unabashedly, and we all have the right to turn the channel. Please read my response to your original post. I’ll say it again: It Was A Joke. I Was Clowning Around With You. Please Can We All Move On? I apologize to all the Trekmovie.commers that I have offended with my remarks heretofore but I can’t promise to be PC in the future. I am prone to speaking my mind, much as Scott. I just try to use less fire and brimstone when facing my dislikes. Or maybe I just choose my battles differently.

Harry, you are a bud. I say keep on keepin’ on. What about you and Garth meeting me in the officers mess for cocktails sometime? First rounds on me. I read girl6’s stuff on her blog. VERY interesting and well done. Let’s see if she’d care to toss back a few.

On the contrary, Scott…..you attacked my friend THX FIRST in post # 29 when you said he made up having a wife! He’s a friend and I know he’s married with kids, so I defended him…..hmmmmm, I see……so if you hint a wife is made up, that’s o.k…..but then someone implies you live with your mother and you go ballistic?

Remember, turnabout is fair play, you DO seem to be wound up a little too tight and, finally, don’t expect us to drop the level of our game for a new player!
