Everybody is so worried for poor Lt Kirk and his harem… ! :P Personnally, I think it is unlikely she will play Chapel (although I would love to see Chapel in this movie) simply because Majel Barret is a very tall woman, the actress portraying Chapel, or Number One, would have to be close to 5′10 in my opinion. We can’t have a shorty Chapel.

As for Carol Marcus, my money would be more on the girl from House… Rachel Nichols looks more like Vena, from Talos IV. But again, we can only speculate. I don’t understand why her role would be kept a secret though… As long as we don’t see baby-David! This guy was boring as an adult, imagine as a child!

And I wouldn’t waste my time enumerating Kirk’s past flames to try to find a match for Nichols. As far as we know, she could be cast to play McCoy’s ex-wife and turn out to be the bitch in the movie :-)

It crossed my mind, maybe this film is:

“ST11: Mr. Spock…. THIS IS YOUR LIFE!”

think about it,

* Nichols as Leila, the love interest,

* A young mother [Rider] on a distant world with a kid that isn’t fitting in,

* His first duty with Pike [Greenwod],

* His 5-year-mission [tos crew]

* Nemoy [as old Spock] thinking back at the end of his life and getting choked up ,

What could be reel cool is the excessive emotion of the child Spock set against the explosive emotion from a Spock at the end of his life, remember the old Sarak in TNG? Those Vulcans get wild at the end…

Anyway, Split the time line to tell the story of the life of Spock, toss in some of the W-The-F of LOST, and you just might have a Trek that brings in the new and excites the old….

Quite right, THX! People would look at my Robert Redford/Paul Newman good looks and assume I bed women three at a time…..nothing could be further from the truth! Since I hate a crowd I take them one at a time!

Harry, don’t you think that it’s funny that some of the people on this site that accuse men who comment on attractive women of being sexist are usually the ones who want to stereotype women the most? I mean, saying that a woman is a bimbo based solely on her looks is equally as bad as saying that all smart women don’t fit the common concept of beauty. One might steer them towards Leonard Nimoy’s new book of photography so that they might attain a new awareness of what a woman is really about. I don’t claim to be any sort of an expert, but I have found ordinary and plain women to be just as vapid as I have found statuesque women to be brilliant. And vice-versa. Don’t define who a woman is by her looks. Try to find out who she is. Rachel Nichols appears to be a very fine actress who also is very beautiful.

That I enjoyed her Maxim layout as well as her acting is just me being me.

What is it with the focus on Carol Marcus? I can see how that would be a great little dramatic sublot, but Kirk *has* had other women in his past, which were illustrated on the original series—why the forgetfulness?

She could be Janice Lester – fellow starship captain candidate who loses it…

She could be Ruth… hot, elegant babe from Kirk’s younger days…

She could be Janet Wallace, smart and cute-as-hell biochemist…

I mean, come on…

She doesn’t look right for Leila Kalomi, for some reason…

What if Carol Marcus, and a bit about “stayaway from us” is pivitol to the story. There is at least one or two lines in which it is stated that durring his acady year, Kirk was a “nerd” so to speak, and kept to the books. What if Carol Marcus was the one who turned him around, had a hand in turning him into the kirk of te Original Series. Could that work?

It’s an American thing. In the UK we have a smaller pool of actresses so skinny and plastic is seen less often here. In fact, seen even less often because our skinniest most plastic actresses defect to America!

Carol Marcus must be a role model for REAL WOMEN and so she must look lie a REAL WOMAN!

No big boobs. No gorgeous hair. She should be plain, but friendly, have a high forehead (intelligence!) and a “normal” figure unenhanced by plastic surgery and implants! Maybe she can even have a little tummy since so many young women have tummies today.

Some might think Carol Marcus is just a Plain Jane nerdie science lab type, BUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT? Does anyone care that Hillary is “plain”? NO! They appreciate her intellect and passion — not her looks!

I can’t believe how sexist some Trekkers are!!!!
