WTF are those wacky warheads?!? Ships drift around like hot-air balloons! Just horrible! How about having the ship get deflected off course when one of this warheads slams against the shields....? As it is, it looks like the Romulans are throwing tomatoes at the Enterprise! More fresh tomatoes!!!

The shot of the BOP passing though frame and firing the 'heat seeking' torpedo is amazing! Would have liked the Enterprise to have rocked and been a bit more dameged (but hay they never even did that on TNG to VOY). Actually liked the warping out scene, It was very awkwardly written in the first place and I think theve managed to effectively convay what was sort of supposed to be happening (certainly much better than the original)

Just rewatched it last night, and the Shat pulls off an outstanding depiction of a condition similar to dementia/alzheimer's.
Too close for comfort almost, because I have two family members who are already deep into dementia/alzheimer's. Unfortunately there's no magic anti-radiation shot to give to restore their youthful vitality and vigor. Seeing someone you love forget major chunks of their life is extremely hard to take, believe me.

56 posts of "hey another great remastered Trek" would make for a pretty boring forum.

I like picking apart the new effects, talking about what I think they are doing right and wrong, and seeing what other people think.
Where else would you have this conversation? This is it. A page specifically designed to show you the new effects and then comment on them.

I come here and post when I need a break from sales & spreadsheets at the office. Comments about leaving the basement are hardly necessary.

> The streaking stars works with TNG ships, they didn’t streak in the
> original show, they didn’t streak in TMP or most of the movies IIRC.

The streaking stars were seen briefly in Star Trek VI as the Enterprise 1701-A rushes to the planet of Camp Khitomer. FWIW, the slight amount of streaking stars shown in the Deadly Years: Remastered is not too noticeable and only when seen when played back in slow motion.

I'm enjoying the episodes for what they are - classic sci fi mixed in with silly monster of the week. The fact that they are presented with better sound, graphics and image quality is icing on the cake.

Nit picking the lighting on a 60's TV show? Sounds to me like someone needs to get out of the basement more often. The team behind the restoration have done an admirable job for the budget they were given. Nothing I've seen so far has been 'bad', in fact I'd say they have improved on the original.

Enjoy the show - that's what it's all about. Now I have a new reason to watch classic Trek again (not that I needed one in the first place!).

Can't wait to see the movie version.

re 52 Mike

Not sure if you're referring back to me, but I hope I am just presenting a reasonable argument and opinion. If my post comes off tantrum like in anyway, it certainly isn't the intent.

I don't like "rant's" either, but I also don't appreciate dismissive posts. I think my opinion and most others are pretty relevant. Especially when well expressed.

#44 In the same scene, one of the best ideas was keeping Lt. Galway off-camera (you forget she’s supposed to be there with the rest of the landing party) until McCoy addresses her … and then we can hear in her voice that she, too, obviously is racked with age. Then we get her shocking reveal in the mirror … she’s more far-gone than anybody else.

Great stuff, “The Deadly Years

I sometime hate that they c ut stuff out. Not only did they cut out the part where Galloway died, but They also skipped the part where Chekov was on the bridge complaining about all the stuff they had to do to him: "If I live long enough, I'm going to run out of samples."

I liked that 'speedy blur' movement too...

I agree...any critical comments on these 'remastered' episodes by the likes of us who expected more, are indeed probably as irrelevant as the ones by folk that accept happily whatever is served up to them...but that is the nature of these 'apples and oranges' opinions...of which I am interested in reading both perspectives...

You guys that throw little tantrums about the fx every time they release an episode ought to save yourselves the trouble. Your opinions are irrelevant and not as interesting as you no doubt think. Skipping over them is wearing out my scroll wheel.
