Hello,

I really like your website. It is definitely the most informative website for Star Trek that I have ever visited. I really like the HD Photos you have posted hear as well. I use one as wallpaper on my laptop. So do you think you will be posting anymore screen shots from the remastered HDDVD like you posted before. I am talking about the scene where the Enterprise looks like it is orbiting Earth. Excellent high resolution picture! I am sure many other Star Trek Fans would like to see more.

Thank you,
Stephen Hornak

I've been watching my new HD-DVDs this week and I think they are simply terrific! The Big E looks absolutely gorgeous - and while the early remastered episodes aren't quite as pretty, they still trounce the pitiful old effects. Those pitiful old model shots with fuzzy bluescreen spillover, matte errors, optical printer degradations, and so on look simply awful in high-def on a high-def TV. The video segments and commentaries make it clear that the Remastered Project is in good hands and I feel I got great value for the money. I can't wait for the 2nd season to come out.

That's a nice rollover comparison, however my DVD side certainly doesn't look that soft. One thing that makes a difference with DVD is good upscaling. It should preserve the sharpness, but will never have the full richness of HD. You can still get very good pictures from upscled DVDs though. Indeed Star Trek has never looked better on DVD, and looks amazing on HD.

I just wanted to let you all know, somthing about my setup with reguards to TrueHD was screwy, the TrueHD track is indeed a 5.1 surround mix. I've had another reviewer confirm it for me on AVSForum.com

hi,

somehow my former post hasn't appearedyet (should havebeen around #45, and the system said it was posted because it didn't accept the 2nd identical one) so I try it again.

I made a waggle image soyou can better compare the ntsc and the hd-dvd pic.

I have to say the quality of this set is amazing. Just looking at it now in front of me. Even the DVD side is crystal clear and you can see the difference. Still grabs really don't do the CG Enterprise justice. More than ever I'm conviced the moaners about the FX are really just nit picking.

Agreed, using the production order is something I miss from the 2 episode dvds. I was hoping (I read somewhere but then found it to be wrong) that they would be in that order again... Ended up pre-ordering these from amazon a few days ago, been thinking of picking up one of those toshiba hd players that have been priced down lately.
