Wow, looks very similar in the ones where he's walking... He doesn't look exactly the same but i'd be really more worried that he'd act the same.

Just one thing: he should stop smiling when he's dressed up as Spock. Too much smiling ruins it!

Concerning the voice of Spock:

I too have reservations. Tim Russ has a natural Spock-like voice, which made him perfect a Vulcan, but Zachary Quinto does not have that graveling voice. Tim Russ as Tuvok also mimicked a lot of Nimoy's speech and mannerisms as in words like "sensors" and such that were perfectly okay as the logical pronunciations that Nimoy established for Spock.

I don't want to hear a "teenage" Spock stuff from any hardcore fans as an explanation why Spock doesn't sound like Spock. But I'm getting ahead of things, so let's wait and see.

I wonder why they went for the lower cut. A higher front cut would have been more in keeping with The Cage and The Menagerie. In these shots Quinto looks too puffy faced, though of course Spock is younger, and post processing can do a lot for an actual film shot.

Too bad there are no images of Christopher Pike on set. That's one of the characters I am waiting for. That one Star Trek Phase II fan episode did Pike best, I've never seen such a convincing Pike. Even The Cage/The Menagerie seems to pale down on that one. I never liked Jeffrey Hunter that much, but of course he did just the pilot.

Star Trek: The Motion picture is one of my favorites, as it's more in line with Roddenberry's original idea, more "cerebral" and realistic, as the TV execs said of The Cage. Great nod to 2001 with the color-coded space suits, which makes sense if you lose radio contact. Anyway, I've got high hopes for this picture, but it won't please everybody. Us hardcore fans will bicker about little things, while the mainstream audience will be either awed or bored, just like Star Trek: The Motion Picture back in 1979.

46. Pragmaticus

"Let’s meet a young David McCoy and his wife. Let’s see young Leonard McCoy at Ole Miss."

I recall watching "Star Trek III" on the first day which contained a different edit than what appeared on Beta&VHS in 1985 and any DVD release. When McCoy was asked his name on Mount Selaya, he responded, McCoy, Leonard H., son of David and Sarah.

I'll reserve my opinon until I see actual photos from the sets. Too much shading in these spy shots.

As to the outfit- do we know if it was actually worn when shooting? Apparently it was a cold day- perhaps just a sweater to and from a chilly set?

#66 Greg2600

Having heard Zachary speak on a few episodes of the excellent 'Heroes' now, I can confirm that although he does NOT have the 'gravelly'-sounding timbre of Leonard, he should do just fine...AND at least we will probably get to hear Leonard's distinctive tones on screen once again.

The big test for me will be if the actual 'lines' are WORTH listening to...

So Quinto has fake ear lobes? Great now I'm just going to be staring at them.

The bigger test for me is to here Quinto speak. Nimoy had a very unique voice (as did Shatner for that matter), and accent, and manner of pronunciation which led intelligence to the character. Most other actors portraying Vulcans since have been too wooden (aside from Kirstie and Kim)
