First!

But who cares!

Dare I say it… First!

Alas, beaten by mere seconds! So is anyone interested in Star Trek Conquest? I had thought of buying but I’m a little tired of the space combat games. Legacy didn’t exactly ‘wow’ me. I’d love to see another TOS role playing game like Judgment Rites.

I might pick up Conquest in a few months time in a bargain bin, unless the reviews are kind to the game. I get that it’s not the most advanced game ever made, but the last few Star Trek games have been pure drivel.

Loved Judgement Rites, and some of the early Star Trek games for the SNES. Loved Starfleet Academy, played that for months pretending to be a starship captain.

So many games fail to capture the passion I feel for Star Trek and my love of gaming. Cautiously optimistic for Star Trek Online though. The art design looks bloody amazing.

Please explain to me why a Star Trek video game with open ended gameplay has never been made??? Star Trek, GTA style!!!!

What I mean by that is, why not a game where you can pick your ship (from all the shows), pick your crew (from every crew from every show plus some extras- Imagine Captain Kirk and 1st officer Picard!), and travel an open space universe exploring aliens and planets- along the way different things happen that you have to deal with, but its still open ended and you make the calls- has a Star Trek game like this ever been made??

To me, it would be a no brainer. Maybe with the game that is based on the movie?

Tough crowd… I thought TREK was about optimism. I see way too much cynicism in these message boards of late. Sorry to say.

its funny but I was in Best Buy for something else and thay had no TOSHD’s at all stocked, no display no nothing, and nothing in anyones weekly flyer. I was starting to think it wasnt out this week.

I asked at Best Buy yesterday. They just kept pointing to the TNG MegaSet. Very very sad.

I’m more and more convinced that shared optimism about the human condition died with Gene Roddenberry. Yes, there are probably still many Trek fans who share it, but it no longer defines fandom the way it did back in the ’70s and ’80s. And yes, that’s a crying shame.

I couldn’t find the set anywhere today.

I too would love an open-ended ST game. I don’t even know if it could be done, the way you (and me) imagine it. It would have to be on a scale that would dwarf WoW….of course Star Trek Online is coming, maybe it will fit the bill….

Reality has a way of asserting itself over fantasy. Back then, we did not know what we did not know. Now we do and it sucks!

“Bald,” if you didn’t know we were in for a shitstorm these past twenty years, you haven’t been paying much attention. Even Trek predicted as much for our times, at least in their broad outlines. The point was, though, that as bad as things could get, the assumption was we could (and, eventually, would) do better. As with yourself, such assumptions don’t seem very operative among the show’s fans anymore.

Paustin, I can’t even find TOSR on Best Buy’s website. Can’t believe they wouldn’t be selling this. They still have the old dual episode dvds, if anyone is interested! :)

#12 lets keep our fingers crossed for STO!

#6- I agree with you. I may sound negative about video games, but from what ive heard and every recent Trek game ive played, they just dont take full advantage of the Star Trek license.

That being said, I agree that most Trek fans have been a little too negative for my taste regarding the new movie. Many already have strong opinions formed before the teaser trailer has even come out, UNHEARD OF!

Yeah there’s never really been a good Star Trek video game.

I’m not really interested in this game but I’m surprised its not availible on the xbox 360…
^
An open ended Star Trek game would be cool and is a great idea!!
Its unfortunite that paramount doesn’t seem to get behind these games much.. (I see a trend).
^
Best buy, there just faking it and getting by.

#16 sorry were not all on board this ill concieved Kirk and Spock wonder years movie concept.
With so much Trek left behind in the Ds9 and Voyager universe I can see why alot of fans are upset.

Some of you are saying Trek fans are negative in tone and not positive in attitude……………….well, I can state, for a fact, that I’m positive………that is I’m POSITIVE that somebody here is going to say something NEGATIVE about something!!

If everyone was positive about everything, we would all be worshiping Landru..^
And that would just suck…
