It was a great Thanksgiving watching the Xindi arc and the Alternate Universe arc. Enterprise was just starting to come into its own just as Paramount pulled the plug. No vision from CPA's and Lawyers who run the show. It's always the buck. It's not just the main networks, it's also the cable channels. There are times that maybe shows like Enterprise could have been shown on PBS like Dr. Who. Very witty, and bordering on the fantasy.

Oh yes, the Amok Time sequence is my favorite so far.

I won't hold my breath while waiting for TOS-R to match this:

Haha, Sean's of the world unite! Except those dirty Shaun & Shawns, we all know full-well they're spelling it wrong ;)

I do like the remaster project, and they get a lot of things right - Amok Time, for example. I'm just a bit disappointed that certain things weren't done better.

There must be something with the Seans of this board all thinking the FX are not as good as they can be.

Me Sean4000, Sean's clone, seangh, and sean.

This is strange. lol. But it's good to not be alone in my opinion.

#115

Agreed, that particular moment was pretty cool. I do wish that the remaster project would infuse a little more energy into the ship's movement much like that episode.

I've tried to post this four times. Let's see if the fifth time is the charm.

I finally got to see "In a Mirror, Darkly" after missing it every time it aired. All I got to say is WOW! Now, *that* was a love letter to the fans! Loved the Mirror Universe opening credits! I just had a big silly grin on my face the whole time I watched.

Overall, I really liked "Enterprise," but I did have a problem with the fact that all of a sudden, out of nowhere, Humans smell bad to Vulcans. Huh? I also thought T'Pol's trellium addiction storyline was lame, lame, LAME! A Vulcan with substance-abuse problem? Huh?

And since we're getting a reboot with Trek XI, could we puh-lease not have every single Vulcan/Romulan female in the known galaxy wearing that Spock hairstyle? That's my biggest gripe with the post-TOS franchise overall. Remember T'Pring? Old T'Pau? Saavik?

Peace. Live long and prosper.

Oddly I saw a moment of this on a TV in a bar last night and the show looked amazing. It was a FX scene I barely remembered and I was reminded of how amazing the Visual Effects were in this series. Also of how damn good Enterprise was.

Enterprise was an interesting experiment. I agree with those on the board who though Season 4 was very strong. Manny Coto and Reeves-Stevens really hit their stride. The pacing of the shows were great. I saw them more as mini-movies toward the end and they were great. What I found funny was that you could tell difference in quality when Reeves-Stevens or Manny Coto wrote an episode versus when Berman and Bragga wrote an episode. There was a real richness to Trek lore when the former wrote versus the shitness of the later. Take the vulcan reformation episodes for example. The Forge was a tremendously well-written episode. 'The needs of the many....' The 'IDIC'. The second and third episodes were not written as well. The vulcan reformation was basically a 'fix it' for the crappy way Vulcans were portrayed in the previous 3 seasons. And it worked, albeit a bit abruptly.

I also thought Jonathan Archer was better written for in the 4th season. He was not a bad casting choice for captain as some say. The writing just didn't help Scott Bakula for the first 2.5 seasons. At first, I thought he was an allegory to George Bush. There was an episode in the first season where Enterprise Landed on a planet and Archer basically acted like a jackass by being ignorant toward the inhabitant's cultures, and the natives got pissed. Archer just seemed dumb and naive. I didn't like that at all. His character was really carved out nicely towards the end of the series. If only the same could be said for GW.
