My name is Corey Becker and I was the editor on the tribute video. I spent the majority of three weeks digitzing and editing variations of it at home.

Thanks to everyone for watching and your thoughts. To answer some of the discussion above – there weren’t any rights issues on the content. V was used a lot due to Shatner directing it. Generations due to the presentation of the award being by Malcolm McDowell and Patrick Stewart.

Also, V featured some great topics of exploration and preservation, which were the focus of the festival.

Well, I know that ST:V was not the best but I love these guys so much I’d almost sit through anything just to see them in action. (A friend of mine joked about them continuing the series too long and said one of the movies could be called “ST:22: Escape From the Home” as opposed to “The Voyage Home” for those of you new to the franchise)…

Greg2600: You have a point. A lot of the scripts in the original series were really lame (as I’ve mentioned before) but I was desperate to see them. I was only 11 when the series started and was hooked from the start. Have been watching all series of all episodes since. Am very curious about this new one. Hope it won’t let us down.

As a citizen of the City of Omaha and a long time patron of the Westroads Mall here, I think your comments are way out of line. Attempting a clever Trek joke about the profound suffering “that guy in Nebraska” inflicted is simply unacceptable. Period.

I love Star Trek V. A Piece of the Action was one of the worst sci-fi scripts imaginable, but it made for a great episode of Star Trek.

Agreed.

I’ve always liked STV, too, as it’s troika-centric. It may have some weak points concerning the elaboration of the story itself, but its strong point is the character interaction which is beautifully delivered throughout the film.

I was truly moved by this tribute video. Very inspirational. I need it. I live in Omaha where yesterday a young man went homicidal in the Westroads shopping mall and killed 8 people, before turning the rifle on himself.
Some of us Trek fans value the inspirational in film to help renew our spirits.
In Trek V Shatner provided many inspirational scenes, especially in the “Godshow”. It’s regrettable that he wasn’t able to bring his vision to full realization due to the studio execs.
The Shat deserves the Jules Verne Award. Absolutely.
