a) yes McGillion’s character died on Stargate Atlantis but now they had a replicator-built Atlantean team that was on a duplicate Atlantis surface so it is possible Dr. Beckett is alive and it was a replicator clone who had infiltrated Atlantis who died; not him…as 4 who McGillion could play in the film how about SCOTTY’S DAD? IT WOULD BE A GREAT IRONY SINCE DOOHAN’S SON IS IN THE FILM=]=]=]=]

#54 He was born in Scotland, but his family moved to Canada when he was a “wee lad” (very young). His father and mother of course speak with a Scottish accent, but Paul McGillion normal way of speaking is without a Scottish accent. He normally speaks with a generic North American accent (with maybe a little bit of Canadian thrown in.)

I watched WNMHGB again the other day, and I was amazed at how much Pegg looks like James Doohan if Pegg were to dye his hair. I think he’ll look a lot like Scotty circa WNMHGB.

# 52 I’ve just seen Paul starring in an awesome comedy stage production up in Vancouver and the man is HILARIOUS live, nevermind on screen, that takes a lot of comedic talent! His role of ‘Carson Beckett’ was equally comedic and dramatic so he could have easily handled BOTH elements for the Scotty role. The acting chops weren’t the question IMO. JJ has a habit of hiring actors for big roles who’ve worked with him before (in small or lead roles). So Pegg had the advantage with a foot in the door from his MI:3 role.
