As I recall Spielberg visited Lucas during the last couple Star Wars movies. Maybe he’ll have better luck making a suggestion if so asked on this one.

I liked Urban in LOTR and the Bourne Supremacy. I think he gave good, understated performances. Nothing overly showy. Judging by the quotes here, he gives a good interview with well thought-out answers. I think he’ll be a good McCoy. Since McCoy is my favourite TOS character, I’ll watch with interest.

If you remember, Kirk descibed himself during his Academy days as “a stack of books with legs.” And “serious.” So Kirk and the others may be different in their younger days. People do change as events shape them and they mature.

Remember Picard was a hell-raiser when young then became a stick in the mud later.

Let’s see…how ’bout Michael Bay, Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Martin Campbell, Ron Howard, Christopher Columbus, Sam Raimi or any of the other dozen or so fantastic directors out there? And that’s just the directors with a large body of work & name recognition.

look you guys I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again – Star Trek without Shatner is like having severe food poisioning without explosive diarrhea (I’m talking gunshot loud blasts down the pan)

and as for Speilberg showing up on set – Wow…just wow man!

I think he was considered to direct TMP at one point – tell me I’m wrong (guess he couldnt do it due to CE3K or something)

He’s never done a Space set film yet has he? His Sci Fi ones CE3K, ET and War of the Worlds (plus Minority Report and AI) were all earth set…He wanted to direct Return of the Jedi but couldnt (something to do with the directors guild or sumthin) and one of the prequels but Lucas wanted to do em all….so maybe…:
