#68 Jupiter1701 "when William Shatner was talking to Catherine Hicks"

It was more likely that Shatner said, "No matter how this day turns out, at some point I'm gonna be yellin, 'there she blows!'" :)

No spaceship was blown up by disruptor or phaser fire in ST IV.

My lip reading might be a little shaky, but when William Shatner was talking to Catherine Hicks it looked like he said:

"Hey baby, I've got a hot tub in my hotel room, do you want to make like a couple of humpbacks?"

Or it might have been:

"I'm hungry, I wonder what we're having for lunch. That extra large pizza I ate for breakfast just didn't hold me over."

Yeah, either one of those two. Definitely, for sure.

Alright so what if it wasn't epic. It was still great fun. and it worked for the franchize by becoming that "one with the whales." as in "i haven't seen any star trek movies, but I did see the one of the whales." And besides you get the whole bit between kirk and spock in the truck going "No, Yes, No, Yes... He loves Ittalian...yes." It's one of my top five Trek movie scenes.

Great film. Many thanks to Leonard Nimoy and his collaborators for giving us a Star Trek movie where, as he has often pointed out, nobody died, and there was no villain, just a set of circumstances the crew had to overcome. It takes more creativity to come up with that than to write just another run of the mill 'bad guy out to blow up the universe' script.

"Captain Kirk. You and your crew have saved this planet from its own short-sightedness. And we are forever in your debt."

AWESOME. :)

Thanks for the great comments. It was amazing for my parents to arrive home with the footage. It was the first time they went on vacation without one of their five sons with them in nearly 20 years, yet they taped for a day for me, my dad filming with an ancient videocamera. From the film, before real coverage of the Star Trek feature, I noticed that it was a time travel film, that Spock was functioning as a character. A few months before the film, William Shatner appeared at a store here selling his Haley Comet video. He was asked about the film. He mentioned that he wasn't fond of time travel films, yet that he did like this narrative. Needless to say, I was very happy when I watched the film. What is amazing to think of is that it is going to be about another two decades before my wife and I are what my parent's age was then. Maybe then I could tape them filming Star Trek directed by Zachary Quinto for our son Nicky.

Thanks for the comments about the film.

I'm amazed that the aquarium was actually open for business while they were filming those scenes, let alone that the production crew let visitors videotape everything. Nothing like that would happen in this day and age on a big budget film. Of course, back then, there was no way anyone could send what they taped around the world with the stroke of a key.

This must have been a wonderful surprise for you, John. I'm imagining what it must have been like for a young Star Trek fan to have his father return home with home movie footage like that. I bet you were dancing on air! Very, very cool.

Great thanks to John Tenuto for sharing that video. Wow, that is amazing that you got an actual scene being filmed! The Voyage Home was and still is the best film with a Star Trek title on it, although not IMO necessarily the best Trek film, that was Khan.
