Anyway I was just agreeing with 56 (”Harry”) and 57 (DEMODE) about the size of Jonathan Frakes. When I saw Riker and Troi in the final episode of “Enterprise”, I couldn’t believe it. Thought it was a great idea but they looked awful. Frakes was HUGE and Sirtis looked like she just slapped on the wig 5 seconds before they yelled “action”. It kinda looked like they could not have cared less about being there. “Let’s give the little trekkies a thrill…”. Just couldn’t believe they’d go on camera looking like that.

Here goes the rant that I also apologized for:

The whole Star Trek franchise would not be as successful without (us) fans spending all the cash on it (going to the movies, buying the VHS/DVDs of the movies and all of the photos, T-Shirts ad infinitum, ad nauseum — hey now they’re probably going to be putting out the blueray [is that the right term?] versions — more money!!) Let’s hope that this new installment will have people who look like they want to be there and putting their all into it

Can’t remember any more (lucky you). Better get supper going. My husband is wasting away while I type…

Boy do I hear ya! It makes me sad to see him go like that. We already lost John Candy (and Chris Farley). Hope someone gets to Frakes before it’s too late.

It’s almost a sign that we won’t be seeing any more of Riker and Troi. Man, did you see the last episode of “Enterprise”? If they get too crappy-looking they won’t dare appear. Frakes was HUGE and Troi’s hairpiece looked like she just slapped it on 5 seconds before they called “action”. That was an immense disappointment. It almost looked like they really couldn’t have cared less and were doing everyone a gigantic favour by gracing us with their presence. “Ho hum. Guess we can thrill the trekkies with an appearance”. Tremendous letdown. It could have been done well. Last minute idea? Looks like it (in my opinion).

Hope the new Trek will have actors that REALLY want to be there. It will show.

Sorry about the above rant. It’s just that I feel we (fans) deserve better; after all, we are why the franchise is so successful. No matter what talent went into it — writing, acting, directing — if no one was buying tickets to see the movies then buying the movies when then came out on VHS/DVD or going to the Conventions (like the beginning of “Galaxy Quest”) etc. they would not have been able to continue. Remember how the original Star Trek got extended? (Somebody stop me!) Guess I’m just anal about doing things with excellence. Better go. It’s getting deep in here.
