Thanks, Charles. Fascinating as always. I love me some Science Saturdays - even if I don't get to read them until Monday.

On a different note: @37 & 38: SERIOUSLY??????

#39
I was thinking more of human society. And that's no more than 10,000 years. Sure we're as a species are "a bit" older. I read an interesting article once on the development of human culture. It was discussing the question when mankind actually became mankind and stopped being just an animal-like species. Interestingly, it argued that this didn't happen when we discovered fire or built our first weapons or the wheel or anything but by the time we developed a comprehensive language. I just thought it was a fascinating point of view, saying that everything that came before was no more than 'pretty evolved animals doing some intriguing things with their natural environment'. I just had that in the back of my mind when I posted the above.

But hey, why am I even arguing with you Darwinian shitheads? 7 Days. That's all I'm gonna say. :-)

(The point is: it's still not so much time compared to the dinosaurs.)

50: Dr. Image:
Nicely Done!!
Seriously, you can tell where the momentum for low earth orbit operations in the private sector is going in light of the successful SpaceShip One flight of a while ago: Companies like Virgin Galactic.

Ah, the aging shuttle fleet. What a shame.
Soon I'tll be back to rockets, capsules, & splashdowns again.
Oh well, it works for the Russians.
What happened to the future??
I guess it lies in slabs of cloned cow muscle.

jbtw: I agree with TrekkyStar and Tpol, too.

But ore importantly, I want the table top computer. I would find a way to install an LCARS-esque interface into it.
