Zach’s copping a lot of criticism from Trekkies, not just here but on other sites as well, for not being similar enough to Leonard Nimoy. But he’s NOT Leonard. He can’t be perfect. He can only do his best and hope that it’s enough for the fans. There’s a lot of pressure on Zach to get this right (because being involved in Star Trek is such a make-or-breaker) and I for one support him completely. I hope he does well.

Likely the server you connect with is timing out because of your slow dial-up and a large file.
Unless you look around for DSL or broadband provider, perhaps a friend with high speed can download and burn it to a disc for you.?

I’m posting this message here as well to try to get help so if some of you see this elsewhere, it’s because I need as many people to see it as possible to try to get an answer.

Help!! I’ve been trying to download the Trek movied “Of Gods and Men” but it only downloads a few seconds every 5 or 10 minutes. I have slow dial-up because I cannot afford any more right now so am I doomed to never get this? This is my second agonizing attempt and it has frozen at 3 minutes 26 seconds. There are 26 minutes and 12 seconds to this first part. Can I do anything (besides paying through the nose for high-speed internet? What kinds are out there? I know NEXT TO NOTHING about this kind of technology.

Can any kind Star Trek soul enlighten me?

Oh, I know who you directed it at. Orby did nothing more than correct manrum’s consistent miss-spell of Nimoy’s name. Manrum wasn’t distrubed by it, I can’t figure out why you were.

I know Orbitalic and he wasn’t disrespecting anyone. But he can speak for himself.

Let’s move along, back to the topic.

I’ve been looking at Heroes again (via Bittorrent) and watching Quinto. You can tell he gets his teeth into a role and loves being a villian. But can he be a (mostly) emotionless Vulcan and not come across as boring or awful?
Nimoy invented that fine line that Quinto must now tightrope along on. His performance will set the tone for the whole film.

I got a friend from the Netherlands to translate what manrum wrote in what I thought might be Dutch. This is what I got back. You decide for yourself:

Thank you for this challenge. The grammar isn’t right, and some words aren’t Dutch and probably also not proper German. When driving to the radio-studio this evening I figured it must be a bad translation from another language into Dutch or German. I searched for the word ‘immigrantenegoist’ in Google and I got only one hit. http://www.trekmovie.com.

I found out this piece can indeed be found on http://www.trekmovie.com and is written by Manrum and is addressed to Black Fire. When reading the name Black Fire I remembered that that is the alias you used when you made the videos with (name withheld). If it is indeed you, then I think Manrum tried to translate English into German, but was far from successful.
I warn you. What he/she wrote isn’t kind, to put it mildly. I think he/she insulted you.

Translation:
“You are just American immigrant……., and you can’t appreciate my understanding of my mother’s language and the love for my country. If you have a problem with me, you must look me into the eye like a soldier. My grammar is fine, although I grew up outside an important rural city-area, you forgive me. And personally, I think you are a retard (’vertraging’ can be translated as ‘retardation’). Bye. “

It kills me how there are so many disclaimers attached to these actors who suddenly get a Star Trek role and say “I don’t know anything about Star Trek. I never watch it.”

Give some faithful fans a shot at the roles!

(Now that I think about it, wouldn’t that be a disaster-in-the-making?)

Aww, guess it’s just sour grapes. I’m jealous of the opportunities they have been given.
