it's great to see more and more people getting on the enterprise bandwagon...finally. Kinda reminds me on another Star Trek series that hada campaign to save it ..it lasted an additional year, then got its respect in syndication.hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm which one was that;)

#4 "It is interesting to see how some Terminator ‘purists’ are hating the show for little things and missing out on the fact that it is a well written well made show that takes some risks."

It has gotten better, but there are some pretty gaping plot holes and inconsistencies within the show itself. It kinda seems like a milking of the franchise name.

Query: Has anyone heard what's going on with Steven Spielberg's proposed remake (announced in 2005) of "When Worlds Collide?"

I've always been a HUGE fan of the two novels (When Worlds Collide & After Worlds Collide). I consider the 1932 novel one of the best (and original concepts) sci-fi adventures ever written! I've read the twin novels at least two dozen times since first discovering it as a fourth-grader way back in the late 1960s.

While I am a marginal fan of the 1950's movie version, I feel it departed too far from the novel.

I really want to see this remake happen, hoping it will be more faithful to its roots. Sadly, too many films that are announced never see the light of day (or in the darkness of the silver screen)... but I hope Spielberg makes this (I imagine "Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" is keeping him occupied these days).

To join in on some other comments of this thread:

1) I like the idea of this column. I enjoy reading a concise, one-hit-all column / site that documents the goings on in the genre. For those who don't, no problem... just do as Anthony suggested and click on the sections you find of interest. It's like TV. If you don't like a program, just change the channel. It's that simple.

2) I am not a big fan of the new "Flash Gordon," but agree with a few of the other posts that say the show has improved. It has. Greatly. I still think it has a ways to go before it completely wins me over. I wonder if the Sci Fi Network will give it that chance?

3) Stargate Atlantis is very enjoyable. It's taken me a while to get past SG-1, but I am liking the spin-off program very much.

4) #57. I agree completely! Sadly, far too many people had given up on "Enterprise" (which I never understood-- I always liked the show, especially seasons one and four).

By the time the show really began "cooking" the viewers had abandoned ship.

Gee, "ST: Enterprise" is rated #2 on the syndication list. To me, this goes to prove the series NEVER belonged on UPN.

The fourth season was sooooo good. NextGen didn't hits its creative stride until the end of the third season. What a shame Enterprise was given a better chance!

I still think if it had run its full seven seasons like the others (excepting TOS) we would have seen the Federation/Romulan War.

57. Jack - February 4, 2008 - spot on. Enterprise did get it right, almost perfect, but everyone had given up on it, and that realy is a shame. And I also agree with the fact the SG has truly 3 dimensional characters that are not perfect which makes it compelling viewing just like BSG, I enjoyed watching Sisko, Archer and to a lesser degree Janeway deal with their own personal demons.

#56 Respectfully disagree. Flash Gordon has definitely gotten better but anything would have been an improvement. The majority of the scripts are terrible. I honestly feel like the actors must be ready to jump off a bridge!

StarGate Atlantis has been great. Yes, it is true that we have seen a slight shift to a bit more humor this year. The scripts have been very good due to the real base concept behind ALL the successful years of Star GAte. That is of course true human characters that are fleshed out. These characters are real and enjoyable. That's the difference between MOST trek versions and sg. Three dimensional characters that are not morally and ethically perfect all the time. By the way, no one gave it a chance after Voyager but Enterprise got it right! Excpet no one was watching, what a shame.

"Flash Gordon," bad as it is, is becoming more watchable as "Stargate" becomes absolutely worthless. I do hope they renew FG; it's fun.

Sci-Fi Channel's "Flash Gordon" series *did* suck at the beginning, for the first few episodes, but has improved *remarkably* since then. For those who are quick to "poo-poo," may I suggest you go back and actually *watch* the past 3/4 of the season? The stories are better, the acting is better, Ming has indeed become "merciless" again and the whole "Mongo scene" has a delightfully creepy diversity to it.
