is it just be or does any one else here laught at the word twok. sound like a Vulcan surname, rather then the initals for one of the best star trek movies. ("Mr Twok, are you reading any life signs down on the planet")

But as for Bana and his part. I agree that there needs to be considerably more time spent on the Enterprise crew. TWOK did this very nicely. although Montalban didn't have a whole lot of screen time, his weight was being thrown all over the picture. Kirk talks about him, Carol Marcus talks bout him, Spock talks about him, Checkov talks about him, "He's going to blow you to bits". And get this, Khan and Kirk (with there K alike names) never come face to face. Yet you have the best hero villian pair in the history of star trek. becuase in the end it really isn't about the villian.

That is what made TWOK so great. Nemesis fell short in that it was about The villian and facing the villian. TWOK is basicly about Kirk getting through a midlife crises. That's it. There just happens to be a bad guy, some space battles, a wierd science experament, a son, and the death of a best friend, in the middle of it all. It is all just vehicles that help drive kirk out of his mid life crises.

That's why TWOK was so great. It was about a very human experiance of aging, pure and simple.

I hope the new film will delve deeper into who Uhura is, would be nice to learn more about her, It would also be nice to have an updated view on the role of women in TREK.
Captain Pike had "Number One", I'd like to know who is gonna play her.
*Go raibh mile maith agat.

My opinion to all of the CASINO ROYALE references: I thought that the movie started out great, and was fine, all the up until that torture scene. I really didn't enjoy watching that, and I would find it difficult to try to sit through it again, much less multiple viewings.

So I certainly hope our new ST movie avoids any unnecessary things like that, so that I can enjoy watching it more than once.

It's too bad Kirk and Khan didn't get to fight it out again. It would have been fun to see Kirk once again subdue the physically superior being with a flimsy plastic tube.

The best characters are written in a simple, honest manner. You cannot write a script that gives a character depth. Star Trek (and all tv/cinema) is visual. Who cares if Nero, Uhura, Chekov, etc. lack a lot of screen time? If the acting is good, then the characters will be memorable.

#37. Ed Wood, great film! Dam it!
^
Changing gears a little bit gang.
Concerning the timetravel device that Nero uses.
Remember Voyagers last episode where Janeway steals a prototype time device she mounts on her shuttle.
She could have gone anywhere any time.

I'm just not a fan of reboots, that's why I like that this won't really be one. And I know my opinion of those two is way against the grain but I am used to being that.

is it too much to hope that they don't stick Bana in lame-forehead, bad-caesar-wig TNG romulan makeup.

it looked like embarrassingly bad Halloween makeup in nemesis. the undiscovered country had a fantastically oily, creepy, old-school romulan - with no fake forehead/terrible wig... and even a receding hairline... and it worked just fine.

just hoping they're not planning on copying the tired Michael Westmore/Herman Zimmerman/Robert Blackman/John Dwyer/Jim Mees/Michael Okuda look for the post-TNG-era scenes. It's over, baby.

Eric Bana - great casting
