It’s NOT that we would take glee in the film’s failure…..the thing is…we’ve been BURNT so often by TPTB who have cranked out mediocre movies with weak plotlines that we’re more than a little gun-shy and, realistically, expect the worst……..if we’re wrong, then great……and if we’re right, then……..GEE, WHAT A SHOCK (dripping in sarcasm)…….

With all do respect Abrams knows what hell he is doing, look at his track record, Alias,Lost, Mission Impossible,Cloverfield. He’s had lots of success and that tells me that he when it comes to doing a Star trek Movie he will deliver. Leonard Nimoy is going to be in this movie , If Nimoy thought this film was not going to be good, do any of you really think he would have given it is seal of approval and attached himself to this project. Answer me Honestly how many of you really want this film to be successful. How many of you would revel in it failure? Ill bet you there are more then a few hard core fans that would take glee in this films failure.

Just thought I would add my bit to this speculation about whether this film is good or not.
Nimoy and Doohan’s son said it it great – everyone else involved said it is great. The thing is….
How do they know?
It is well known that the quality of any movie cannot be decided until it is released. Movies can be made or broken by bad editing. The special effects can spoil a movie. Great scenes can be left on the cutting room floor.
For Heaven’s sake the filming has not even finished yet
Special effects/music/editing are still to be done so not even Nimoy (or JJ himself for that matter) will know how good this will turn out. Many things will certainly be out of the hands of Nimoy although I am sure HIS bit will be great.
We can only hope it will be good but NO ONE KNOWS YET.

To pull this thread back into Nimoyland, I thought I’d see what else Mr. Nimoy has done besides Star Trek that is airing within the next couple of weeks, and here’s what I came up with:

Futurama episode “Where No Fan Has Gone Before” is airing on 2/15/08 on Comedy Central at 9:00 p.m. EST.
