It’s a good thing..you’ll get over it.

I wont get over it!!! thanks sooooo much for you words of wisdom and yer im being sarcastic. I much prefer the explanation of 320. startrekfiero, gives a new perspective i suppose on the whole situation much better than telling someone to "get over it"! this is an open forum specifically to be able to air our views, thoughts and feelings! By May im sure I will have "gotten over it" for now....am quite justified in being annoyed!

317. DarthT - February 18, 2008
"This is ridiculous and discusting, Trek has the most dedicated and loyal fans of any franchise and we constantly get treated like idiots."

The movie gets moved to a prime position on the calendar and you feel cheated and made to look like an Idiot?

Well dam them for wanting a bigger box office and wanting to secure the franchise through THREE films.

It's a good thing..you'll get over it.

On second thought, I don't think I would download this movie if it leaked.....simply because the theatrical experience I'm sure will be much more powerful than on a tv for the first viewing. But five more months, that sucks enough for me to want to punch some random person I might pass on the street, right in the face.

I think many of you are missing the bigger picture here which is one that is very important to see.
Yes it totally sucks that they, Paramount, are postponing the release and so it totally sucks that we will have to wait now even longer. And yes technically it is being delayed due to the hopeful chance of making much more money, however, what that means is that more money means more ticket sales, which means more people going to the theater to see Star Trek. Paramount is fully aware of the large fan base and knows that they are automatically guaranteed a certain number of ticket sales no matter what because of the die hard Trekkie fan base. But as we have seen in the past, the large fan base does not guarantee a successful movie. What Paramount really wants is the exact same thing that all of us Star Trek fans want, which is big box office numbers. But to get that you have to get non die hard fans to go and see it. It has to also appeal to the large number of movie goers who are not fans who will hopefully also flock to the theaters and pay to see it. These are called regular movie goers or the general public and it is these regular movie goers who "added" with all of us fans that will hopefully make this new movie a big success. I don't think I have to explain to everyone here why it so important for this latest Star Trek film to be big and very successful. Paramount is aware of that as well. Star Trek is one of their most successful franchises and they want it to succeed just as much as we do. Obviously for a bit different reasons but the end results are the same and in a way Paramount is looking out for us, not against us while they look out for themselves. We want this movie to be successful so we will have more Star Trek. Paramount wants it to be successful so they can make more Star Trek, which means for them for money. Sorry, but as was mentioned earlier thats how the entertainment industry works... but if Paramount plays this well and times the movies release as best as they can getting a bigger percentage of movie ticket sales then thats makes the movie even that much more successful which is a win win for them AND for us.
So as much as this totally sucks right now, in the long run, big picture, etc this should be a very good thing for us Star Trek fans.

I completely agree with Darth T! We deserve to be treated better than this! I for one think that if they wanna play this game to make more money, then Paramount "clean my chronometers"! I shant be spending my money to see the film in the cinema. I sincerely plan to get this film on a good quality pirate DVD, have my mates over my place and watch the whole thing for free in the comfort of my own home on my fat projector! Paramount can as Spock says " Go to hell"!

This is ridiculous and discusting, Trek has the most dedicated and loyal fans of any franchise and we constantly get treated like idiots. How dare they do this to us, first release a trailer a year a year prior to release then to have the cheek to postpone for another six months all due to making more money. At the end of the day it does not matter when u release a Trek movie as the fan base will always be there no matter what time of year! If this is just about money, screw you Paramount I for one will be boycotting the cinema, I suggest other Trek fans do the same, unbelieveable this is just about money! Trek fans are the ones who always have to wait years for new movies and yet again they do us over!!!

I believe I have made the comparison to the proverbial train wreck here before. That does about sum it up. And now that train has been delayed.
