I'm not entirely sure why the. "Don't laugh," comment appeared in connection with the (very short) blurb about Scott Bakula's musical theatre career either.

What I do know is this: On 1/17 and 1/18 of this year, Scott performed at the Sidney Harman Hall in Washington DC in a concert-length show, conceived and directed by Denis Deal, to benefit The Ford's Theatre renovation project. (Scott starred in Ford’s very successful and critically acclaimed revival of “Shenandoah” in 2005, and Ford’s Producing Director asked him to return and mount this benefit evening.)

For nearly two hours, Scott held those audiences spell-bound as he progressed with graceful, confident mastery through a variety of disparate musical styles: Vintage rock, Bebop jazz, and Broadway classics from West Side Story, Music Man, Sweeney Todd, Man of La Mancha, Pajama Game and Camelot to name only a few,. He morphed so completely into the characters whose songs he performed that he seemed to be a multitude of shape-shifting personalities rather than a single actor. Scott also sang songs from shows in which he has starred – Godspell, Marilyn: An American Fable, 3 Guys Naked, Romance/Romance, Anyone Can Whistle and Shenandoah - as well as a sparkling, jazz-infused medley of Rodgers and Hart tunes.

In addition, he performed a very funny Film Noir vignette with wife, Chelsea Field, and the pair covered a wonderful medley of standards by Cole Porter. Not only that, Scott played the piano a bit, danced a little, even gave a brilliantly funny “beat-poet” reading of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s, Climb Every Mountain, while the band played a rap-style version of the song behind him The piece was made all the funnier because Scott committed wholeheartedly to the part and allowed not a hint of insincerity to creep into his send-up performance.

In the words of Paul Tetreault (Ford’s Directing Producer), Scott Bakula is a “most amazing and talented” performer. Scott is the very essence of the word versatile. He made Captain Jonathan Archer come to vibrant life for me and reminded me why I so loved TOS those many years ago. I sincerely hope the ‘don’t laugh’ comment was not a snide remark. Mr. Bakula deserves much better than that from Trek fans.

"Stewart did provide narration to the Arnie Roth CD version of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons (1995)."

He also did a very enjoyable narration for "Peter and the Wolf."

#51 - Although James Darren wasn't in the "Gidget" TV series, he did sing that oh-so-catchy theme song.

I also heard that a few years, Patrick Stewart rented studio time from a friend of a friend to record original material on the flute (and no, it wasn't the Ressican flute from "The Inner Light"). Apparently, it was just for his personal enjoyment and not a commercial exploit.

I was pleasantly surprised by Has Been. I particularly like the track called Familiar Love (or was it woman?) If you havent' heard the album, I'd definitely recommend it. Seriously.
