Paramount and IMAX have done several films together. Given that the new Batman movie is using the IMAX format (and they seem to be happy with it, and it looks amazing!), I would be very surprised if Star Trek didn't take advantage of the format.

They also need to do a better sound mix for TMP. All the looped, ADR dialog on the film, (and there is quite a bit) that was recorded in the studio has virtually NO reverb on it at all compared to the shot on set dialog that has a natural room (set) ambiance and reverb. Often in the same scene, the change in audio quality and reverb is glaringly obvious. To mask the fact that you are in a soundproof room to loop dialogue with virtually no natural reverb, you should try to add a bit after the fact when mixing to match the natural room tone of the on set dialogue. Interstingly on the deleted scenes from the original film (pre CGI tweaked etc... like when Kirk arrives at starfleet in SF and converses with Sonak, there IS reverb added that makes the transition much better and more believable. The DVD just sounds "dubbed") When they did the DVD sound mix for the DE, somebody wasn't on the ball.

I seriously hope that the entire movie is shot in 65mm, whether 5 perf or IMAX 15 perf. That would be an unexpected move for a motion picture in these days to be shot in. But as one said it may be just for FX only. But I hope the 70mm comment is true. Its about time someone used this format for films these days.

87. Irish Terran
"...certainly isnt as bad as Insurrection!..."

I didn't think Insurrection was bad. I do think it would've made a better 2-part TNG episode versus a movie, but overall I thought it a good story and the production was well done. Nemesis, in my opinion, suffered from an unoriginal story that was trying to imitate other Trek .i.e TWOK. Hhowever, the production was well done, good special effects and an exciting space battle.

Unless we get a TMP and TFF remastered with new effects for BLU RAY, forget it. No way am I buying this set. I can only imagine how bad TFF will look on Blu Ray. This is the one Trek movie in dire need of a face lift. Lets finally get a Director's cut of that film!

To comment on the DVD news, I would definitely be interested, only because I haven't yet bought the whole movie set. For those who have, it's yet another double dip. Interesting about the Blu-Ray version, wonder if they'll allow Shatner to fix ST:V? Probably not.

It might be nice for those who don´t have yet the entire collection.
I just got most DVDs and I still don´t have the heart to thrown away the VHS´s.
I totally quit.
