to katie g
i agree with your sister-in-law that the raiders theme song is very reminiscent of the kent commercial.
i have been aware of this similarity for years and have listened to the kent commercial , they are very close
are you aware of any research on this?

#85... I think Routh was fine, and will grow into the role. No-one could have done it better in my book, except Reeve himself.

Well, hell! I just realized (duh!) that I should have quoted Bob Orci in No. 19, not Kurtzman!

Sorry, Bob! I still agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment, though.

Peace. Live long and prosper.

#41---Uh... no, especially if the actor just had a hip replacement and the character is a dead guy.

#79---I agree 100%. That was weak, but I would take it a step further and say that they spent too much effort to get a Christopher Reeve look-a-like and may have sacrificed talent in the process. He spent the whole film posing as if to say, "Look at me! Don't I remind you of the other guy?". There was no passion, no originality. And I think Harry is right. Luthor is rather played out.

I love Superman: The Movie and Superman II, but I felt they spent too much time "paying homage", and not enough building a great story and allowing Routh to make Superman his own. I hope the next one can do better...

Singer is fine...his heart is in the right place with these films and I, for one, LIKED the Donner influence on the first film. That was a logical place to start a new franchise. But, having said that, I do agree the next film needs to be different...fresher...still, I advise keeping the Williams theme and John Barry's Excellent Fortress of Solitude design -- and the Krypton look from the Donner films.

Other than that, change away!

Keeping fingers crossed Darkseid or Braniac will be in the next one!

On the subject of the Indy- Star Trek connection, is it possible that we might get a second teaser in front of Indy this coming May. I know back when Trek was supposed to open in December, it was pretty much a sure thing that the first full trailer would be there. Now with the new May 09 date, could we still get a brief teaser. I already had a cool idea that would be both a good tease and a follow up to the construction one.

As for the Superman thing, please, for the love of god let it be so!!! I really hate Bryan Singer and was pretty much screaming when it was said that he's returning. But with the right script by these two geniuses, it'll work! Like what happened with Transformers and Michael Bay, and, although I don't hate Michael Bay, I had serious fears over what it would be with him at the helm, but with Mr. Kurtzman and Mr. Orci writing the script, I really loved it!

# 81 The warehouse scene was rather interesting. I bet its the same place that they stored the Ark . Maybe it might have cameo in this movie? that would be hilarious.

@80 | With Cate Blanchett as our main bad chick in the movie we will see…
but with the movie set in the fifties, maybe it has something to to with a certain weather balloon incident in Roswell…

With regard to Indiana Jones 4, I like the notion that they are doing a movie around the mysterious Crystal Skulls. I wonder waht the skulls do, are they key to something wonderous or Dangerous or both. Considering the first three movies Ill bet you the concept is going to quite nasty and for the main villians suitable grissley ending.

The sad part about Superman Returns is that for all his hyper intelligence, Luthor's evil plan was to make a giant rock. What was terrible was the missed opportunity too to make Luthor far more like the modern version. Having Luthor conning the old woman out of her millions was a great idea. But what now you have millions of dollars legally in the hands of one of the most brilliant people on the planet. Logically, why would he spend his energy on building a rock. With his brains, he could take that millions of dollars and turn them into billions, legally amassing a fortune that rivals Bruce Wayne--just like in the comics. He could buy all the real estate he wants without kryptonite.

So if Singer had Luthor spend the time when Superman left rebuilding his reputation, his ego would be shattered when Superman comes back and screws things up. And of course, behind the scenes, Luthor would be as evil as ever.

But instead, Luthor wanted to make a big rock.
