#46 Burbank is about 15 miles North West of Downtown Los Angeles… If you were to book a flight to Burbank Airport you could literally walk to the Convention Hall its right across the street. Be there in 5 min.
They used to hold this Convention at the Pasadena Expo-hall but ever since about 2002 the Star Trek grand slam show has been having massive drop-offs in ticket sales. (IMO) because there were no Star Trek shows on TV. Right after they canceled Enterprise it all went away basically.
It looks like Paramount is paying some money to get Nimoy, and Spiner to be there. I doubt Creation could afford them. Should be a fun show. I live in Burbank maybe I’ll try to be there when the interview with Orci and Co are on.
Be nice Anthony if you could post a schedule of events for the 3 days of the show.

Yup, I still go to Grand Slam every year, though it’s not as “grand” as it used to be. Creation devotes most of its energies to the Las Vegas Star Trek Convention now.

I will be there at the Airport Marriott in Burbank to record what’s happening.

Those are good memories! I must say, though, that my one encounter with Frakes didn’t leave me with a positive feeling about him. He was signing (may have been a different convention than the one you attended), but he never looked up or acknowledged the fans in any way.

The friendliest Trek celeb I’ve met by far was George Takei. He took time to chat with every fan and posed for pics, etc. It was a long, slow wait for him but well worth it!

Y’know… I wish I’d kept up on Creation happenings. If I had, I might’ve made it up there for Shatner and Nimoy. My wife’s a TOS fan, and she’d have done it in a heartbeat. Bummer!

I did chase to Minneapolis with a couple of college friends a long time ago to see Frakes and Armin Shimerman. ‘92 or ‘93? That was fun. Nice convention center (sort of a pyramid). My three favorite memories of that con were:

Armin greeting people at the front of the hall with most people not knowing who he was out of his Quark makeup.

Meeting Bjo Trimble, and spending time talking with her (along with a bunch of other fans) in her hotel room after the con was over for the day.

Turns out our hotel was also the one Frakes and Armin were staying at, and we ran into both actors (and their wives) after they had a late dinner. Frakes normally doesn’t sign at cons, but he did for us. Side note: I think Frakes had had a few… He seemed a little tipsy. He and Armin were both very friendly though. A real treat! I miss doing that stuff…

You should have travelled to Viking land (Minneapolis) last May for Shatner, Nimoy and many other Trek stars from the various shows! Sorry, Marina sirtis was NOT there. : )

I’m going to the Grand Slam. I used to go to them every year when I lived in Los Angeles but I moved 5 years ago. I couldn’t pass up the chance to see the 2 Spocks and get some movie gossip. Definitely look forward to this Q&A.
