Though that being said, I do plan on purchasing them. I have to admit, I am a sucker for the movie era figures and ships.

I agree, Straight-out-of-the-70s jumpsuits do get better with age. Either that or with dope, because that is what you have to be on to think that those uniforms were timeless...;)

Hey Iowagirl, I agree. I feel no shame in my geekness.

none.

ok maybe a little guilt sometimes.

but thankfully i work with geeks, I love geeks and have geeks as friends, so its all relative. nothing wrong with appreciating something that shaped your life, like TOS!

where's my credit card...

It's great to see so many fanboys and fangirls indulging in their geekness, instead of complaining about being regarded as geeks...;-)

And yes, John, thanks for all the helpful information - it's very much appreciated.

Thanks, John! Your articles are always very informative and fun. Thanks to you, my sister's hooked on Trek Christmas ornaments. At least now she can make informed purchases.

I am lucky to have my tricorder and I brag about it All. The. Time.

Hello girl6,

The tricorder from Roddenberry.com is probably the best that has ever been released, although this merely my opinion. It is a fantastically detailed prop and if resources are not a concern, it would be the better of the two. The Master Replicas version is very nice, though. I think the DST version should have great playability and be much like the communicator in fun and detailing. That is one of the great things about Trek merchandise, there is a $600, $400, and $40 version of the same item to meet most fan budgets. You are very luck to have the tricorder item!

The recent DST TOS merchandise has made me an avid toy collector again.

Hands-down, my favorites to date are the Phaser and Communicator. The NCC-1701 isn't bad for the money but among other noted flaws, the mismatched font disparity (registry on the top saucer section) is highly annoying because it's so noticeable. Quality control must have been on vacation during that crucial stage of painting! I'm still wondering if this problem exists on "The Cage" and "Where No Man Has Gone Before" models? I'm looking forward to completing my TOS Landing Party gear with the release of the Tricorder. If the quality is on the same level as the Phaser and Communicator, it should be pretty cool.
