22. Katie G. - April 10, 2008

TOTALLY AWESOME QUESTION FOR BOB/ALEX:

Who auditioned for each role?

or

Who were the main contenders for each role?

And

would you consider collaborating with Anthony for an article here telling which actors were up for each part? We would ABSOLUTELY love that. It would give us months of material to argue on who should have gotten the parts!

Thanks so much. Can’t wait to see your work.

It’s what’s on everybody’s mind right now.

If you choose one question…choose Son of Sarek’s question..

wow…

I want to hear an answer to that.

27. trekkie1415 - April 10, 2008

Question Mr. Bob Orci and/or Mr. Alex Kurtzman.

I’m really interested to know why the Enterprise changed. Is it going to be a some kind of plot twist with alternate time lines, or did you guys just want to bring the design more up to date and into the future… no pun intended.

Note* I’m not attacking anyone, I actually think the bits we saw in the trailer are awesome. I’m just curious.

28. trekkie1415 - April 10, 2008

#27 I know you as writers probably didn’t design it, but I was just wondering if you know…

Sorry I didn’t add that in my previous post.

29. Andy Patterson - April 10, 2008

Say hi to Barbara Luna for me if she’s there. She’s my Mother’s age but I still loves her.

30. CmdrR - April 10, 2008

Anthony, if you don’t post stills of an inebriated Denise face down in some g’ock, I will be deeply disappointed.

As for Bob and Alex, just tell them to enjoy it for all of us.

31. WRATH - April 10, 2008

QUESTION:

Has today’s political climate influenced your writing?

33. El Ghost Host - April 10, 2008

I’m really looking forward to this weekend. It’s gonna be a blast, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE I WON THE GOLD PASSES IN THE GRAND SLAM XVI CONTEST!! It’s true! I just got my passes in the mail last week, and I am beyond excited! And on top of being the lucky winner, today is my birthday! Anthony, thanks for setting up the contest and for hosting the best Trek site out there. I look forward to meeting you this weekend. I’ll be in the second row: the tall guy with black glasses, a pompadour, and a HUGE smile.

*Paul*

P.S. The friend I am bringing with me did some extra work on the power plant set in Bakersfield a few weeks ago. You can’t see him in the spy pics, but he was there, hard hat and all. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind being pumped for info.

36. w - April 10, 2008

QUESTION FOR BOB & ALEX:

Why will this film, with its large budget, bring in enough new customers to justify the spend and keep Trek alive? A few million of us wonder how it will be done, because it’s important to us. You’ve got us.

But there are far more potentials out there who are needed to make Trek11 turn a good profit. Why will your new film do so? What’s the catch that will attract the mainstream that previous films have lacked?

37. CmdrR - April 10, 2008

Say hey to Susie Plakson for me.
Me likes ‘em tall.

38. James Heaney - Wowbagger - April 10, 2008

I officially no longer have any good questions for the self-dubbed “Supreme Court” (Abrams, Orci, etc.; KABOL for short).

It’s going to be a great convention, though. Good luck down there, Anthony.

43. Negotiator - April 10, 2008

; )

44. Daniel Broadway - April 10, 2008

Continuation of #42

Oh, and not an answer like “Soon” or “Forthcoming” that’s too vauge. I’m talking about answering like “May, or June, July, etc.”

45. Denise de Arman - April 10, 2008

CmdrR#30- I will have you know I never fall over inebriated in g’ock in front of people. I will stagger, with dignity, back to my hotel room before I fall over into said g’ock.

46. AJ - April 10, 2008

QUESTION FOR BOB AND/OR ALEX

Will we get to see the amazing Will Riker?

53. Richard Daystrom - April 10, 2008

Question for Bob

Admitting on this site more than once that you are a true fan, do you really think that you could write a screenplay using the original TOS characters with different actors (Other than Nimoy) and please diehard fans like myself or are you that egotistical to think that you can capture lightning in a bottle twice??

54. LostOnNCC1701 - April 10, 2008

Star Trek, although it was certainly in large part the work of Gene Roddenberry, was also influenced by previous works, like “Wagon Train”, “Forbidden Planet” and Horatio Hornblower. Besides, obviously, Star Trek itself, what were the largest influences on the script?

65. Dennis Bailey - April 11, 2008

QUESTION FOR BOB AND ALEX:

You obviously both have a great deal of experience in the television and film industry at this point.

What do you think was the most important thing you learned about making films from working on “Transformers?”

68. Dave Rolf - April 11, 2008

QUESTION FOR BOB/ALEX

In terms of a song, how would you describe the new Star Trek movie as compared to the 1960’s original TV series?

A Cover version?
A Remake?
A Sampled version?
A Re- interpretation?

Some examples of what I mean by the terms.

A Cover version – No Doubt singing ‘It’s My Life’ by Talk Talk

A Remake version – Michael Buble singing the Spiderman 1967 TV Theme

A Sampled version- “Set Adrift On Memory Bliss” (Richie Rich MIx)
– P.M. Dawn which samples “True” by Spandau Ballet

A Re-interpritation version – ‘I’ve Got You Under My Skin’ by Cole Porter –
Neneh Cherry version

Can you please break them down into Salty, Sweet, Tangy and Spicy.

70. Mr. Poopey face(formerly known as Closettrekker) - April 11, 2008

For Bob and Alex:

Are there any direct tie-ins to events which took place in any TOS episodes within your script? For example, any chance of a follow-up to Spock’s “encounter” with the female Romulan Commander in “The Enterprise Incident” or anything else that happened in the original series, or do you think that is too much for non-traditional fans to follow?

71. The Vulcanista - April 11, 2008

Good question, Poops! That would be a great wink and a nod to us Old Ones! Hope it gets picked.

Peace. Live long and prosper.
