Friday at the Creation’s SciFi Grand Slam XVI had three Trek related events (Tim Russ, Nichelle Nichols and a group of guest stars), plus a cabaret. The stars entertained the lightly-packed crowd, but there wasn’t any big news (and your humble editor was spending a lot of time chatting with friends and folks around the con). But here are photos from the day.

On Saturday the only Trek will be Brent Spiner. The big day is Sunday with the two Spocks (Quinto and Nimoy) and the TrekMovie.com Q&A with Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman. There will a full report on both of those events.

Anthony: Don’t forget Mike DeMeritt on Saturday–a great insider’s show from the longtime 2nd/1st AD (assistant director) of the Voyager and Enterprise era crews, on set day in & day out.
I was lucky enough that I could send over my good friend Julie to get me autographs from both Spocks… and to ask Mr Kurtzman and Mr Orci about academy style sideburns in the movie ;))
The cabaret sounds like it was fun. Looks like it, too, from the photos.
Everyone looks really good — especially Nichelle Nichols. :-)

And why is the lovely Denise not giving us a field report?
I’m always amazed by the make up work they did on Salome Jens. It is almost impossible to recognize her as the Female Changeling.

Nichelle Nichols is such a sweetheart in person, I would’ve gone (had I been free that day) just to see her do her set. Met her twice, and she seems really warm. Might go this Sunday, if all goes as planned. Would like to see Nimoy come out of retirement…….for the 3rd or 4th time! He reminds me of Pacino in ‘Godfather III’; “They keep pulling me back IN!”
Suzie Plakson needs a new show. Yummy.
And speaking of yummy, I’m sure Denise is working the room. Anthony, your very mature readers want to see her in some ridiculous situation — preferably a pic we can use for later blackmail.

On another subject Shatner was on Leno last night flirting with Trisha Helfer and Leno said it’s Captain Kirk meets Battlestar Galatica. Some funny stuff. Shat looked fairly svelte and the byplay between him and Six was quite charming. I guess Patrick Stewart was on Conan I DVR-ed
Damn… Nichelle Nichols must have a portrait rotting away in her closet back home. She looks as beautiful today as she did forty years ago!
I wish I could have been there to hear her sing live! … and to see the rest of the con!
