for thoes fans who have to wait for the blu i feel ur frustration- i on the otherhand am not high deff ready and only wanted a standard deff dvd release like all the other series.
i dont hate paramount for charging a smaller but dedicated fan base twice as much as the buffy/b5 fans- im proud star trek can pull a higher price.
as for me when the next gen box sets came out inAustralia- for $250.00 retail- i had every episode on tape so i waited- buying the original series seasons1-3 and enterprise for around $118.00 a season (Retail was $150.00)- a few years later they had the "ultimate Star Trek DVD sale" and i got TNG 1-7 DS9 1-7 & VOY 1-7 for between $60-80.00 each (Australian dollers)
i dont mind double/tripple dipping ect.
i liked the unique packaging but they do bug me day to day to open- so would even consider buying the seasons again in the cheaper cardboard box n plastic case- versions all come in collected versions in unique metal storage cases- thank god im a collecter- who loves packaging n desigh artwork or it could get thrustrating.

i do agree people should have the right to express anger at paramout- have free speach on these forums- dont start censoring n editing for the sake of better/exclusive acsess to paramount0- dont ler this be the next startrek.com which was just the studio's mouth peice not the fans.
im done- sd dvd people buy up- once u get over remastered blu ray will make it all seem new n shiny again!

I agree with 47!!!!!! and British Naval Dude. You can still get the story through the old rect. box 4:3 TV. You can download it from various sources and watch it on the computer. I have a PC hooked up to my 4:3 TV and it looks fine for video streams like ST:Phase II. (not recommended for reading though) The whole format upgrade scheme is just a way to get more money from the consumers. It has nothing to do with CBS-D or the Big P. I haven't bought ANY ST DVD yet because they're still on TV in syndication. I appreciate and like TOS-R and I will buy some used DVD sets on ebay someday. I will then take the discs and put them in a binder. The boxes will be going bye bye. Try to be less materialistic. It's an evil from the dark side that just ruins your life. A good exorcism prayer or some blessed oil will help with that by the way. Just ask your local Vulcan high priestess.

I'll not be having this.

But I'm not worried. I'm sure that Paramount will be bringing them out on Blu-Ray at some point in the future to make a few more bucks off of the ol' Star Trek gravytrain.

And just as a side note, wow, those screenshot captures up at the top sure are dark for some reason?

John, it's just that I, for one, didn't know what you were talking about.

Your comment seemed a bit heavy on the hyperbole.

I thought this was a message board for fans to post messages, thoughts and free speech. Not that I am angry or thought anyone was angry at me, but I defend those who are. Heaven forbid we live in a society where people are not allowed to get angry and express their feelings.

I'd just like to see the things priced somewhere near reality.

Paramount has always overpriced their releases, and generally had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into putting in a decent number of extras. Anybody else remember the prices on the original season sets? Usually upwards of a hundred bucks a set! And not just TOS, but all of the series were priced at that level, while Babylon 5, Buffy, Angel, etc., were going for around forty bucks a season.

The marketing division at Paramount are a mindless bunch of dolts who'll be first up against the wall when the revolution comes.

I received season 1- remastered as a Christmas gift and all I have is a standard DVD player. My roommate for her birthday got a flatscreen TV with an HD DVD player. So I decided to check out the HD side of season 1 on her TV. While I'm not as "tech-savvy" as some individuals here are, I did notice an improvement in quality between Standard and HD. Is it enough for me to boycott the release of season 2? In my opnion, not really. For me, I'm happy with my standard DVD side of season 1. Just to see the remastered episodes is a great experience. While I might eventually purchase a BR player, until THOSE go down in prices a little bit more, I'll stick with my good ol' fashion STANDARD DVD player and gladly purchase season 2 when it comes out. Some people are happy with this set coming out 'DVD-only', some are not. Can't please everyone, not expecting to. But I do believe it will all be re-released yet again in the near future.
