I’m watching Conscience of the King right now and it sure sounds like they’re using the original first season theme. And I mean, not a remastered version of the theme song. Anybody know anything about this? Maybe I’m wrong but it sure sounds like those guys from the ’60’s. That trumpet vibrato those guys were doing back then. All those guys who used to play big band who were then sequeing into the studio system. Guys who had old world training in European orchestras and then came over to play under Stokowski in the NBC orchestra. Cool. I loved the sound those old guys had. If it’s redone version – I like, I like.

Sounds like you forgot the extended scene in the briefing room or Pike viewing the other aliens for the fist time from his cage or the scene where the Talosians were scanning the Enterprise’s databanks. In fact it sounds as if you’ve forgotten so much of what could be redone you probably should go back and rewatch the episode THEN make a post comment!

Barbara Anderson (of ‘Ironside’ less than a year later) is a knockout, and it’s the second of Bruce Hyde’s only two shows as Riley — he was great, plus had the good luck to be in two great shows.

“Conscience of the King” has that great first-season look and feel, one of a series that seemed to be reaching for more serious drama than the turn it took toward more action-adventure in the second and third seasons.
