Rusted Sunken Truck = Coral Reef = Habitat for small fish such as Haddock = Food for Humpback Whales = Nutrients for the species = Allows whales to to thrive, having a dinner spot for about 100 years till Truck completely disintegrates sometime in the 22nd century..

Sounds like a good legacy to me for a TVH prop.

I scrapped an ‘86 Suburban a few weeks ago and got $500 for it. So it’s worth at least that much, depending on what they’re paying where you take it and how much crap you fill it with. Most places are paying $200 or more a ton right now.

$6000 is a lot for one of those, movie or not, with a cracked block – but Chevy motors are a dime a dozen, it wouldn’t be that big a deal to fix it. The best part is to make it movie-authentic, you can leave it looking like crap. I think some people forget they might have bought a better truck then you saw, the character wasn’t supposed to be rich or anything, it’s entirely possible someone purposely doctored it to look more beat up than it was, for filming.

At the very least some environmentalist Trek fan should buy this. Get it stripped of all grease, oil, plastic, etc. Then have it dragged out to sea, & sunk as a future coral reef.

There is a recent article on msnbc.com that talks about them doing this old subway cars that are worn out.

Any gearhead can fix up an old Chevy truck, but only a Trek fan could turn it into a media event spotlighting a greener future!

If this goes for more than £7.50 including delivery and VAT the buyer will have been robbed….

I am a big ST fan but even I can’t see why anyone would want this, especially taking account of the stupidly inflated price.

That is very true, but assuming it was a 1/2 ton to begin with and was probably an old #001 cast Chevy 350, with an automatic (Turbo 400?), together that’s 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight. But a steep hill with a windmill attached might run the AM/8-track radio for the duration of the trip downhill. . . . That’s as close to being a green truck it could probably get.

PT Barnum said it best, “There’s a sucker born every minute.” He was, of course thinking of all Chevy truck buyers. . .

The truth is that truck will exceed the $300, but won’t come close to the 5K price, even with it being a movie prop. If I’m wrong, so be it. Now if it was a DODGE product, it of course wouldn’t be a problem exceeding that value (assuming the transmission still shifted).
