94:

Don't compare one film from a completely differnt filmmaker and group to another, especially one you haven't seen yet. There have been successful re-imagined projects as well.

#91 "Grow up and open your mind. Life is change. Get used to it."

Sorry, I saw Burton's Planet of the Apes as well as a dozen other "re-imagined" stinkers. I have an open mind, but they will have to prove themselves. They don't get a free pass just because it's called Star Trek.

"Quinto even contradicted himself in a statement saying the new film honours TOS origins while at the same time reimagines them"

Captain_Neill, dude...really...think about what you're saying.

That statement is not contradictory. You can honor something and still reimagine it. Honor does not mean to never alter. It means to show respect for.

Again, learn before you speak.

Oh and by the way, the most hypocritical fact is that all off these naysayers will most likely be there opening night! Those who won't be will be there sometime during opening weekend.

"I really want this film to work but JJ Abrams has me so worried that I want Rick Berman back now. "

Anyone who wants Berman back has not one clue! About anything! Do not judge something you know nothing about.

Berman is responsible for almost killing Trek and if you want him back...then please, keep that fact to yourself.

My goodness, open your mind to new possibilities. I for one, am looking with great anticipation to Pine and Quinto's interpretations. I've read a lot about this cast and how they've felt in taking on these roles and they all have shown great respect for the characters and the original actors...and that includes Pine.

He wrote to Shatner and Shatner never really gave him the time of day. Don't blame Pine for that..l, in fact, feel sorry for him because he didn't have the benefit of a blessing like the others did. He was alone in that snub and yet he's never said a word about it or negatively about Shatner. That's class.

Pine has stated he was inspired by the character of Indiana Jones and that he used that inspiration in his Kirk. Let me tell you something...all actors do that sort of thing. I hate to tell you but Solo and Jones were inspired in part by Kirk! So it's only life completing the circle.

I can't wait for a some fresh approaches. And I'm with Xavier...Bond is but one example of a major character that's been recast...and a damn good one.

These are characters I love. I love the actors who played them, with all their faults and considering all the love and care they've given their characters throughout the years. But now new actors take on the mantle of these iconic characters and you're judging them without even seeing one frame. Shame on you. Who made you omnipotent?

Now Anthony is going to chide me for trolling, and Anthony I'm sorry maybe it's just a bad day, but I'm so sick and tired of people making such harsh and judgemental statements regarding things they know nothing about. It's childish and immature.

Grow up and open your mind. Life is change. Get used to it.

Let someone with a new vision (and at least JJ has vision...Berman had nothing) take the lead and give Trek new life. It needs it and it deserves it. And before you criticize the new cast again you should remember a couple of very important facts:

First: Shatner had some approval over who replaced him and gave his nod to Pine.

Second: All of the original cast, except Shatner, have visited the set and have been blown away by the new film and cast and have praised their replacements repeatedly.

If you trust no one else, should you not at least trust those whom who claim to be defending?

And for the record - my dad's Trek is also mine - we watched it together on it's first run in the UK! That one remark just irritates the hell out of me!
