I LOVED De Forest Kelley (Jackson De Forest Kelly), whom my friends and I thought of as Kelley. He was classy and classic in anything he was in. Once known as the “heavy” he still stole my heart. I wish I’d gotten to know him but I feel in part that I already do. I wept over his death and that of Carolyn’s!! They were such fine people; a grand ole southern gent you still hear to the end!! Always my favorite and I’m glad he chose the role of Dr. McCoy– he had 10 years acting experience over the others and Gene cast him first w/a choice–a damned good one as McCoy would say. Kelley/McCoy your memory lives on in all of our hearts!!!!! So long and see you again soon!!!!!!

Such a true gentlemen! Some of the Drs of today could learn to have a better “Bed Side Manner” from him. You will never be forgotten Deforest Kelley! Bones will never die as long as we remember him.

What makes me really sad was that a man with such a big heart never had kids. Doohan had a bunch of little ones and that makes me happy to know that they have a living legacy that holds a little bit of the magic. Rest in Peace Bones. You were my favorite member of the original cast.

DeForest Kelley. He was a shining light of what the good of mankind can be. While he may be gone, he will NEVER EVER be forgotten.

I thinking which character on Star Trek was my favorite and Dr. McCoy won out. He was the sensitive, connected and compassionate one. Ofcourse this is a part he played… but from what has been shared regarding his life… he played this part all his life off stage as well as on. His face beams with friendly kindness. De continues to be missed.

I only managed to see Deforest Kelly once at the l995 Covention in Pasadena, it was such a magic moment when he came onto the stage, my heart jumped, The chemistry between him and Bill Shatner and Leonard Nimoy was AMAZING, you could tell these guys really loved each other.

I love the above quotes! I can visualise each moment in time from every episode and film, Thanks.
