From the Star Trek Phase II Writer’s/Director’s Guide:

Of course, the notion that “baldness is a choice and not the standard” doesn’t jibe with the “…like all Deltans…” comment. But this could simply be Jon flip-flopping: “I voted against hair before I voted for it.” Or perhaps the original notion was a Roddenberry thing that Jon was never wild about and now that Gene’s gone, Jon feels comfortable playing with the baldness notion a bit.

My wife and I were at Shore Leave this past weekend. Blood & Fire was fantastic as are all the New Voyages/Phase II that we’ve seen so far!! And later on we got the chance to talk to James Cawley, he was great. So down to earth and he talked to everybody that came up to him one on one. James, we hope your test results come back with good results. You looked in great shape (that from my wife) at the convention.

I hope that by the time Blood & Fire is released that James will rethink the “no downloads” policy — I will not sit and watch anything over 10 minutes streaming on my PC. If I can’t sit and watch it on my tv, no thanks. That said, if you do come around, I’m first in line.

A hottie in your hands is a moving experience without respect for age.

My current gf and my first wife are exactly 20 years apart in age – the ex-wife is much younger than me and my gf is older – but guess which one is fulfilling to be around!

Wesley (69 etc) Don’t confuse the two Phase IIs! The James Cawley series has never claimed to be set in the intended era for the abandoned TV show: the name is a tribute and the fan series is intended to bridge the gap between TOS and TMP!

The old/new Phase II designs fall between two stools: the look of TOS and that of TMP. Why shouldn’t the new Phase II series therefore be set during ‘years 4 and 5′ of TOS? Logically, the uniforms start to be modified around this time, leading to the ‘final’ designs in TMP. Same goes for the Big E: she gets some upgrades (perhaps new warp nacelles and navigation deflector) and some internal modifications before getting a comprehensive inside-and-out overhaul after the mission ends. Besides, surely the stories are the most important thing?

Don’t get into all this canon-worship nonsense. Just enjoy the films! :)

With all due respect , it’s not really like the Civil War in the respect that it is not real. Which should give the artists who are creating it some latitude to be flexible and not have to conform to some retro-active definition of canon. Very much of what the modern fan calls canon was originally an off-hand line or bit of dialogue that future film makers shouldn’t have to feel chained and confined to. Otherwise you turn a free and expanding, creative universe into something stifling and limited.

Well, it is not conforming to ‘canon’ in regards to the decks on the ship or something, it is just a basic timeline situation, It would be like making a movie about the Civil War, but, having Lincoln being assasinated before the civil war started. James, do you have any ideas on where phase II fits in? I loved world enough and time! Great work.
