I’m perturbed she not in it. In fact, I say that she should be in everything. All movies good and bad direct to DVD or not.

And while I am at it, Starship Troopers 3? Is that a joke? Where the hell was I for 2? Hollywood is all about remaking things, why not remake this franchise into a series or something (I liked the cartoon better than the movie. I think the acting is better in the cartoon as is the story).

But I will look for the third one and see it because of her. Well, that and the gratuitous nudity. I’ll watch pretty much anything that has gratuitous nudity. That was the one thing the first movie has on the cartoon. It has gratuitous nudity. But let’s face it naked cartoons are just well….sad. Unless if they are disney. Then it’s fun for the whole family. What? I meant Donald Duck. He never wore pants and there wasn’t anything dirty or wrong about that? He’s a Duck. Did you really think I meant….oh, your sick if you did.

Yeah SST, the film, was a satire of US foreign policy that America, in particular, failed to get! So many reviews of the film are hilarious: critics actually took the film seriously and not as a $100 million mickeytake. It’s like seeing Robocop as a standard police procedural. From the looks of things, a lot of the actors even didn’t realise Neumeier and Verhoeven were sending them up!!

Sure I’d like to see SST, the novel, get a proper adaptation one day, but the send-up is too wickedly subversive and hilarious to overlook!

(Sigh) But is inviting Shatner to the party more important to you than the integrity of the story?
Bob Orci said that they would love to have worked him into the film, but that Shatner required a bigger role than the movie could sustain (”I don’t do cameos”). That implies that they might have been willing to accomodate something which amounted to a cameo, and that it became a moot point after seeing Shatner’s public comments about that possibility. That is not altogether different from what Nimoy was offered in Generations.

So, while I understood what you were trying to say, I fail to see the significance…Nimoy turned down a cameo in GEN, and Shatner was never offered one in STXI after he indicated that he would not be open to that possibility.

80–while it’s understandable you are tired of the Shatner in Trek XI talk, maybe going through a thread where Blalock is talking about the ridiculous idea that Shatner wasn’t in the movie is not one you should click on.
