AJ asked if this is going to come out on DVD. This is a 3-D Imax movie that will be released in theaters in 2009. Definitely not a straight to DVD type of movie. Also, Christian Slater’s voice is still in the movie.

The fact that Neil Armstrong’s voice is in the movie is AMAZING! I know I’m in a “room” full of Star Trek nerds, but he is WAY cooler than Shatner (need I mention certain television commercials he has done?).

I was at this panel and I really liked Chris Pine’s little video. I haven’t seen him in anything nor have I seen any interviews with him and I was surprised at how charismatic and playful he seemed. He also seemed very down to earth and genuine.

I think he will do a great job as Captain Kirk

Actually, seeing a beam from a laser is purely movie magic that helps the storytelling. In reality, even if it’s using light in the visible spectrum instead of ultraviolet or infrared, a laser beam is effectively invisible except as it lights up dust motes that cross the beam or at the point where it hits something. Whether that would also be true of a phaser — well, since they don’t exist yet your guess is as good as mine.

BTW, I do like “idiosycrasies” – sounds a bit like one of Sulu’s exotic carnivorous plants. ;)

Ha, well I think we probably have a lot of common ground, it’s just this new production of ST and a few of William Shatner’s…uhh…idiosyncrasies that we sometimes find ourselves on different shores. :)

Of course, other people use lower case s ’sean’, so maybe someone’s been misbehaving in my name!
