if u saw batman begins, then u should be fine with The Dark Knight. It is definitely a whole lot darker, more violent, and, yes, scary cuz of heath ledger’s absolutely insane portrayel of the Joker, but it is definitely a total thrill ride. it is a sad and very tragic movie, but its also very uplifting, inspiring, and freakin exciting beyond anything ive ever seen before. so, i would definitely say give it a shot if u dont mind the darkness. it is worth every cent of ur money and every second of ur time.

Regarding the overuse of swearing, I totally agree. It’s really a shame because he IS a great talent but maybe it gives us some insight into why he has trouble with substance abuse. It’s his whole mind-set I think. I REALLY hope he can stay away from that stuff if he can’t handle it.

I’ve been hesitant to go see “The Dark Knight” because it’s, well, dark. Does anyone think I should give it a try? I’m not sure whether it will leave me depressed or thrlled? (as I had to admit that Ironman did…).

I definitely dont agree with Downey on that one. Iron Man was a fantastic film, but The Dark Knight is the best film ever, bar none. everything just clix like clockwork, from the story to the direction to the acting to the special effects…..i could go on and on. ive never been so affected in my life as I was while watching The Dark Knight….ESPECIALLY in IMAX. Downey is one of my fav actors, but, u know, u dont have to talk LIKE THAT in order to express ur disappointment and jealously that this film was better than urs.

bang…..bang…..BANG! (banging that Batman 3 drum Chris Nolan!)

Ahhh okay. I understand now. No, I definitely didn’t mean it that way. I actually was agreeing with you in the sense that Downey overuses swearing so much that it sort of blinds you to any point he hoped to make. If he spoke that way around me I’d be put off as well. While I appreciate the use of a properly placed curse, I think the overuse (or inappropriate use) of them can make a person seem crass or trashy.

it sounded like a negative connotation, like “goody-goody” etc. However, even if you did mean it that way, that’s okay. I’m not going to pull a Jr. and start swearing at you or, as so aptly put by Joel (in #71):

Well then there you go. If Kevin Smith says it. Hey, I’m no prude but has he ever spoken on a professional level (and most of the time when he is giving a sound bite it is on a professional level)….has he ever found a way to express himself other than a rather crude, lowlife. Which is kind of how he seems he always to me. But even given that….I agree, it does look pretty good. though.

Also, to any comic book readers out there, I highly recommend checking out the current Green Lantern comic series written by Geoff Johns. It’s easily one of the best superhero comics currently on the stands today.
